I know it sounds nit-picky, but spoilers are usually when somebody else gives away something before the artists/creators meant for you to discover it. Spoiling a plot point in a TV episode on twitter or facebook, for example, or if someone was at masho's place and snapped pics and then posted them before he was ready to reveal it himself.
Burning Man is a wonderful mix of projects that are kept under wraps and others that get teased or talked about in advance. I love them both - not only are the big surprises pretty magical, but seeing what other people are doing helps me get excited about the year ahead. Sometimes it's a boost of enthusiasm when I feel worn out, and sometimes it encourages me to step up my own efforts and try harder.
I can related to BoyScoutGirl's point having experienced it first hand but I generally agree Trilo, I often dig following along and seeing how a project comes together noting how different the finished product feels from the original concept sketch (Peter Hudson's Eternal Return comes to mind). In my experience there's a big difference between concept imagery and the real thing, hence the importance of experiencing a piece first hand. On the flip side, being blown away by an installation I knew nothing about is great too because I have no preconceived expectations (Michael Christian's Brainchild did this for me last year). In the end there is not "right answer" just a matter of approach and perspective.
Thanks for the positive vibes.
