2016 Kidsville?

Post by Mautje » Sat Jul 09, 2016 5:32 am

Hello fellow burners!

We've been to Burning Man twice now and luckily were able to get tickets trough STEP this year! We're planning on taking our 1 year old to BM :) and are thinking of staying in Kidsville. I searched in google, eplaya etc. and only found some general info and a restricted yahoo group, for which I tried to apply, but so far I can't seem to be able to read any messages etc.

How does this work, do I just find Kidsville once we arrive and put my tent/rv there? Or is there a process of actually "joining" trough either eplaya, the yahoo group or some other way?
http://blackrockkids.org also only has general info.

It would be great if there was someone who has been there before who has some more info, thanks a lot and can't wait to join you all in a bit more than a month :D

Kidsville definitely has a sign up, and you need a FB account for that. They place individual camps within their village. I haven't seen their placement yet, but they frequently split a block with Hushville.

Under no circumstances should you just show up with plans to camp in anybody else's designated camp space unless you have been in touch with that group and have made arrangements. Whether it's Kidsville or any other group, you need to find and reach out to them and get their permission.

Some camps just do not have open enrollment - they may be a smaller (or even larger) tight-knit group, or they may not have any room for additional campmates at this time. Every camp is different, some post threads here, some on FB, some on their own web sites, some through personal introductions, and other various means. If you'd like to join a group, it's up to you to figure out how to connect with them. Good luck, either finding a camp or building your own.
