A bit about us:
Our camp is made up of 30-40 members currently, a mixture of old and new, with experience ranging from 10-15 new burners to veterans of 15 years and as far afield as Germany, France, the UK and (closer to home) Sacramento. Our campmates live in intentional communities off the playa and are practiced at welcoming new people and sharing principles. No more than 5 members of the current group are friends outside of the burn, so we will provide a welcoming atmosphere to all.
What’s going on in camp?:
We will be hosting Smoke & Mirrors happy hour, to take place at sunset in our bar (situated inside our main dome) and monkey bar races on our custom built 30ft monkey bars. At Smoke and Mirrors we invite passers-by to enjoy a handmade “Smoke & Mirrors” cocktail literally from our cupped hands. Maintaining unbroken eye contact, we craft cocktails one at a time and foster a deep connection and a grin. We also have campers bringing an aerial dome and fire-dancing equipment. A new addition for 2016 will be our giant trap. This is a large room painted in warnings not to enter (because it’s a trap). Those who enter will discover that it’s a one way door.
We’re very open to campers who want to organize events in camp (and would actively encourage participation).
What we do / provide / need from you?:
We will be building a large shade structure for tents, as well as a kitchen/pantry and dining hall. The camp provides hot meals every evening (campers must sign up for a cooking shift) and food to make your own breakfast in the morning. We also provide snacks, as well as water and beer for campmates. Typically we run camp icebreaker drinks on Sunday/Monday, and a deep (read: silent, no hands) brunch on Wednesday, as well as making an effort to attend the Man Burn as a group.
Please note that we are looking for engaged campers who will get into the spirit of things, help out with camp tasks, and become part of our community for the week.
