San Francisco Decomp 2015

Post by theCryptofishist » Sun Oct 04, 2015 10:34 am

So, apparently Marty and Ratty will be there.
I'm on the fence as usual.
Ratty wrote:Yes Marty! I'll be there. I work in the commissary from noon to 3. I'll have a blanket in the park with an ice chest of beer, Gatorade and snacks. (It's actually a piece of rolling luggage). Look for the 'Eplaya' sign. Help yourself. I'll be there at 3:15 to flop down and drink. I know gaminwench will be there too. Possibly near the silver phone booth where you can talk to God. Hope to see you.
Anyone else?

Me, I will be present. I may head over to Ratty's chill area and see what kind of snacks are in-store. Take a snack, leave a snack treat. I missed her last year, just some friendly foreigners hanging out mostly. What's this I hear about strong coffees @ decomp?

Yea. Let's see some dusting off. Personally I like to hit the roller rink. I want to talk to the Morris Hotel guys and if the 'Lost & Found' crew is there I love them. Bring any unwanted playa wear for the Black Rock boutique clothing exchange. Don't forget to bring a cup. Give the DPW Resto team a BIG hug. (They'll be in the park.) I'm not Greeting this year but that's fine. I guess they needed food helpers more than huggers. A new job is always exciting. ALSO...YOU should consider signing up for a shift doing something for 3 hours.

There are lots of open shifts and it's fun to help.

By "strong coffees" do you mean espresso? Naked Espresso will be at SF Decom with a crack team of trained baristas. We will be serving our espresso au naturel. Please bring your cup!

If you want one of these Titanium man pendant bottle openers, Sextant will be flame painting and gifting them in the fire arts area. We may set up inside DUSTFISH Village if we can sort out the fire issue.

The process takes time and I'm going to take the booth down when the sun sets, so come early!

TorriSmith your gift is the best and appreciated. The interactive process you go through to make them and the patience you have with herding the crowd is magic. Thank you and your crew for being there.

Aww, shucks!

The key is to convince the crowd that they're actually Burners, and that they've been given an opportunity to spend time with each other.

I'm a possible. I work until 3am or so, so it all depends if I wake up in time to get my butt across the city (and, of course, not being too hung-over would help). The idea of that line to get in though ... :(

Sadly, I will not be able to make this event..

But my favorite band of all time... on the playa... is playing!!! the band's name is like you are making a fart noise..

All of their songs are Playa related... Porta Potti Hotti... Playa Pussy .... Shirt Cocker ... Don't drag your dick in the dust... and so many more..

Great Funk. like super duper good funk.

So anyways, I just heard about it yesterday from the lead singer's post on FB - details below

Yo Bay Area freaksters! Your favorite Burning Man funk band (say it with yer tongue waggin') PBBBBLT! will be laying down our funky stuff at this year's Decompression party Sunday the 10th, this coming! We hit the 19th street stage hard at 2pm sharp bringing all of your favorite hits. DON'T BE LATE and remember never, under any circumstances whatsoever, drag yo d*ck in the dust!

Naked Espresso is really handsy. We always need more hands. As long as you ask first, we are happy to put your hands to work! :-D

(Specifically, keeping our crowd happy while they wait in line and/or helping to serve espresso to keep the line shorter and/or helping to strike the booth at the end of the night.)

Gaminwench, They didn't fill up the volunteer schedule. Take a look and see if there is anything open to suit you. I know the greeter shifts didn't fill up.

It was her birthday, she had just broken up with her boyfriend, tall and blond, articulate and sentient, we are at some Burning Man thing in SF, the Dogpatch, with my best playa friend Jackass, smoking. Sound system throbbing. She and her friend were at Mission Rock celebrating the birthday and strolled over without a clue to the nature of the event. To begin the day she talked to her mother and grandfather, I told her how special her day was book-ended with that and this evening. She started to cry and her sweet friend took her away. I had a last beer at Bloom overlooking the Bay Bridge.

I lost a cell phone yesterday at Decompression. Is there a Decompression Lost and Found?

aserendipity, You were great. Thanks for helping in the commissary. Just do? Really? What are the 'new compartments' you speak of? The organized, online signup sheets? I respect the people that take time to orchestrate the volunteers at the event. I wouldn't just show up and choose my own dept. I was assigned to commissary instead of greeters. It was great. I'd do it again. If there is an 'again'. I wonder where the event will be next year. The commissary was so much fun that I went back to make sandwiches for the midnight crew and almost got stranded in San Francisco. I had to hitch-hike to the train to make it in time.

Hey, all you guys that traveled so far from home are an inspiration. Maybe I should look into other events in Sac and Reno. It was great to see you all. To name a few, Nila and Killbuck. Pannie and Trillo. Oscillator, Gaminwench, and some guy that I can never recognize. Oh yea, Jackass. Plus I made new friends at the Miso Horny, Midnight Popcorn, Commissary and Temple builders. I'm now marking my calendar for Amtrackathon as the next burner event for me.

Ratty the reason you're not recognizing me, is that my disguises are strong this year. It's not your fault, I blend in and then I'm gone...
I've been referred to as shitty shifty before.

It was nice to chat and hang out a bit, you had a very nice camp. I forgot to leave you some treats for later, next time.

The shindig was a blast as usual! I'm sorry to learn about Decomp needing to find a new home, the Dog Patch is/was a great place for it. Will they do it on private land for one year and then return to the Dog Patch, we'll have to stay tuned to find out...
