Nevada's Third Busiest Airport

Post by Canoe » Mon Jun 25, 2018 12:28 am

The Black Rock City Municipal Airport
Nevada’s third busiest airport (behind Las Vegas’s McCarran and Reno-Tahoe airports) during 7 of its 13 operating days.

It may be the third busiest. But it is the most fun airport in the world! Thanks for posting the article!

All burners are encouraged to visit the airport. It has it's own bar and a pancake breakfast, I don't remember which day.

Isn’t BRC the third largest city in NV?

Perhaps you were thinking of a city's police presence per capita?

Numbers of police officers and total law enforcement (including civilian employees) per capita as of 2016 per 10,000 people:
  • New York, New York 42.3
  • Los Angeles, California 24.6
  • Chicago, Illinois 43.9
  • Houston, Texas 22.2
  • Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, Nevada 20.9
  • Phoenix, Arizona 17.4
  • Reno, Nevada 12.7
  • Henderson, Nevada 12,0
  • Sparks, Nevada 11.3
The average for populations of 50,000-100,000: per 10,000 people, 16.1 officers, total police employees 20.7.

If you count Henderson, LV, and North LV as a single metro area (they are distinct incorporated cities), BRC was the third largest city back in the 2010 era.

Sparks almost doubled past 90K so no longer third no matter how you slice it.

5th on the list by population size assuming ~ 70K in BRC.
