Need OBJ, SVG files of art/camps for VR/AR app

Postby jgwinner » Sat Aug 05, 2017 1:46 pm

Hi folks

I'm working on a VR/AR app, and I'd like to import any art exhibits, "the man", or anything else as real physical objects.

This would be both Mobile as well as "room scale VR" although I don't plan on bringing a PC VR headset to the burn, I will have a "Cardboard" VR if I get the app ready in the next two weeks.

Send me your poor, your tired, your OBJ files.

I can generally handle OBJ, FBX, Alembic (ABC), DAE, or anything blender can handle. (If you don't know what this means, you probably don't have what I need, although I'd be glad to explain it ...)

My initial goal is to just get something running, so you can take your mobile and via AR "look around" and see where you are, where art objects are, etc. although with time my goal would be to have people submit photos, 360 video, etc. so that you can browse and click on images to relive the burn ...

You want to digitize my burn? Come on. Put the device away and live.

I don't want to do anything to your burn.

I MIGHT want you to be able to see where you're going - or experience other people's burn after it's burned.

You never look at a photo of the burn? Think of it that way - only more real.

Would this involve a cell phone? I think using devices takes away from the serendipity effect. Thanks, really. I would much rather be totally lost, stumbling over unexpected pleasures than trying to find a particular place or person. I'm sure there are plenty of folks that would love your project. Run with it.

Second Life has been putting on a 'regional burn' for years a month or so after the man burns down in reality. You might want to check on the grid for resources since some camps have a Second Life presence. Also some of your more common structures have already been made in those formats. Anyway. I might be willing to waste some time building out the camp I'm staying with post burn.
I have a little bit of Savannah with me. Shhh...

Cool, thanks.

Will check it out.

I had hopes of throwing together a quick AR app for the burn, but had to work :) so post burn is perfect.
