The Burning Man site now shows the partial list of potential theme camps for this year. Partial because some camps opt to fly under the radar and not be listed. Potential because it is a list of camps seeking placement but does not actually mean that these camps will all be there. From what I have heard, there is a huge surfeit of camps applying for placement this year and the Placement Team will have a daunting task in working it all out. Way more requests for space than exists in the city. It also sounds like many existing camps have upped their space requests as well without significantly increasing their level of interactivity. I wish the team well and I know many of us have our fingers crossed. Placement should be announced by early July.

Well that was disappointing. We applied for placement and didn't make that list. I know I did it right because we emailed back and forth. Hummmmmmmm.

Inclusion or lack thereof in that list is no guarantee of anything. I wouldn't get distressed just yet, Ratty.

Surfeit is a 10 dollar word. I pay my words well and they can mean whatever I wish them to.

Theme Camp web listings are live!

Each year we publish a list of every camp that requested Placement and indicated they want to be publicly listed. This is not a list of Placed camps - just those who completed a questionnaire.

If you indicated that you did NOT want to be "Publicly Listed" on your questionnaire, your camp will not be there. If you spot an error, please contact [email protected] and we will correct it.

I can't help it. I'm scared. We always have great events but they are at our whim. If we get placement...We'll need signs with info and everyone has vowed to be sober and ready to work. That's undoubtedly why I shied away from any list.
