Hello All!!!
It's my first burn and I'm coming in an RV and I just wondered how you get allocated your place on the playa.... does it pay to get there early or does it not make any difference?

Any info would be appreciated!

When you get to Greeters, they give you a map. You can look up earlier versions online. The shaded areas are reserved for theme camps. Basically, you drive to an area on the map which is open camping, see if there is room, get out and ask the neighbors if the space is available, and set up. Just don't be a jerk when it comes to taking up space, don't set up in the dark without talking to anyone, and you're fine.

Do the gates close on Sunday night or are they open all night?

Theme Camp territory is traditionally marked with blue flags. These are tiny little flags down on the ground, about 4 inches square.
It's not like there is a "fence" of them, but if you look up and down the street a little, you can see them.

Here is a map of 2015, 2017 will be similar. The shaded areas are 'rough' estimates where placed camps are.
