Ahoy crazy travellers of the dusty seas!

We're a couple from seas far away seeking shelter, companionship and fun. I'm 42, from Denmark, my partner 40, is from Honduras, both living in sunny Barcelona, Spain and we're looking for space in an RV, preferable in a camp. While it'll be her first time to feel the burn, I'll literally be celebrating my 4th birthday on the Playa (previously 2002, 2003, and 2009). Champagne will be brought!

Due to travel restrictions it's limited what we can bring. We expect mostly smaller personal things like costumes, el-wire thingies, gifts, etc. but are more than interested and willing to volunteer our time for existing projects. We prefer a clean home are non smokers but open-minded for other substances.

We expect to fly to SF (haven't purchased tickets yet) but we're flexible.

Happy burn! Please PM ;-)

Hi! Nice to see your message!
We're two young women (a Spanish and a Londoner) travelling from London UK to San Francisco (our first time at Burning Man!) and our idea was to rent an RV van in SF, load it with the necessary supplies and share the drive and gas with other people to BRC. We've been invited to a camp (Camp Delicioso) so we'll be looked after once there.
Nice friendly conversation guaranteed! We're super outgoing and laid-back, but also very organised and responsible, so also we guarantee no flakey behaviour!
Waiting for your response, hope to see you! :)

The important question is: do you already have reservations for the RV? They may be hard to get at this time, it is a busy week for all Americans taking their last summer vacation.

What AntiM said!!
Don't blindly count on showing up in SF and renting one, that's probably the single worst time & place to do that.
You need to be making reservations now, and on top of that, research which places are OK with having their RVs go to Burning Man. They get really, really trashed out in Black Rock Desert and many will not allow it. And they can track where it is, too.
You may need to rent one from another city.
I really don't understand why people fly into San Francisco to get to Burning Man.
It's not close by and it's not affordable. I'd look into flying into Reno, which IS nearby to the playa, IS more affordable, and really caters to Burners.

I think it's cheaper for international burners to fly to SF or even Vegas

I can't speak to the economics of coming in from Europe, but I fly in from Boston. My first time renting an RV for the Burn was in 2015, and all of my research at the time pointed to Portland, OR being the best balance of proximity, cost and convenience. Yeah, it's about a 10-hour drive to the playa, but that's not so bad in an RV full of friends. Plus, if you go into with the attitude that it's all part of the adventure, it's a good time.

There are several RV rental places in Portland that are owned/operated by Burners, so they know what they are getting into renting to Burners and don't take advantage with outrageous cleaning fees or crazy deposits. Back in 2015, I had a hard time finding Burner-friendly rental place in SF, and the ones that were ran about double the price of comparable rentals out of Portland. Reno is obviously the most convenient, but RV rentals there ran about 2.5 to 3 times the Portland prices. Portland has a good sized airport, so it's not difficult to find flights in.

But as others have noted, that's a busy time for last-of-summer vacations, especially with Monday, September 4th being a U.S. holiday.

While it's getting very difficult to find RVs available now (because they are all booked already), I've heard that there are a lot of vendors who have 5th-Wheel Trailers available to rent. They drop it at your camp site for you. You'd need to bus or drive into BRC to it.

Salt Lake City, UT and Boise, ID are also nearby (relatively speaking for the American West) choices.
