Hi Happy Burning Man Folks,
I'm a middle school music director with a 6 ft grand piano that I need to get out of my music room. Just got a new piano. Was thinking that someone creative might want it for either a loungelizard art car or something just to place in the desert as an installation. It's a 1923 Baldwin, actually a very beautiful piano with no cracks in the sound board, but it has been used at my school since the 1950s and is very worn and tired...
Please feel free to post this on any artist boards you know. I would be very happy to see it go to go use at Burning Man. Thanks...Richard Contact me @ <[email protected]>

Re: Need a 6ft Grand Piano?
We need either a console or spinet piano. Uprights and grands are too much, just way too heavy and bulky, but thanks for thinking of us.Ratty wrote:Where are you located? Barbie death camp was looking.
Re: Need a 6ft Grand Piano?
There is always a trebuchet available for a piano out there ...

How did I miss this! (Thanks, Ygmir!)
Awful far for me to drive, but I am inquiring about it.

Re: Need a 6ft Grand Piano?

A 12-hour expedition to Menlo Park (California) netted the above 1923 Baldwin Grand, and also its companion, a console upright of Sohmer brand.
But that ain't nuttin....
Turns out, the donor is not a Burner at all.
I'm still trying to piece it all together, but he had already been in contact with Bara, one of the Czech students building the sculpture Heardt for this year's Burn. Heardt's light effects will be controlled by the piano keys.
I have been working with these students for months, and I acquired a baby grand for them some time back, and two consoles as backup.
Thing is... the student I was in contact with... left the group. So there was discontinuity in the planning.
Apparently, someone at BM headquarters went looking for a piano for them. And found this gent, who is the music director at his school.
The one thing I'm certain about... is that I do not yet have the full story in the correct order.
But we have the Baldwin. And the "bonus" console.
