Couple looking for 2 people to share RV with

Post by kyndall » Wed Jun 21, 2017 5:00 pm

Hey guys!
My partner and I have hired an RV to drive down from LA and drop back in Vegas after the Man. We're looking for another couple or two mates to join us in this adventure. Unfortunately our friend who was meant to come got offered an opportunity of a lifetime and has had to pull out.

About the RV:
It sleeps up to 6 people, but we're wanting to have no more than five... ideally four would be great. It's got a shower/ toilet/ kitchen etc. and we've also got linen and kitchen equipment included.

About us:
We're both 25, Australian, virgin burners. I'm a speech pathologist and Ryan works in IT. We love adventure and value new experiences and open mindedness. We've both traveled a bit and so are pretty independent. We're heading to Machu Picchu after the USA for a bit more exploring!

Dates:
At the moment, we're picking up the RV on Saturday 26th and taking two days to drive it down to BRC. We're planning to leave on Sunday morning after the man burns, and take a couple of days to drive to the Grand Canyon and then to Vegas, dropping the In Vegas on Tuesday 5th. Our itinerary is pretty flexible and you're welcome to join us on the road trip before/ after, or we can pick you up and drop you off (within reason of course!).

If you're interested in joining us, or have friends who are, please send me a PM :)

See you at Burn! X

I'll echo what you received on FB. Sharing an RV with strangers is a crap shoot at best. Harsh conditions, tight quarters, RV rules not followed. I understand trying to spread the costs around but think hard before doing this. Lots of horror stories if you look for them.
2nd time better than the first. And the first was pretty Freakin' Great!
I am Camp2. - A solo camp - Stop by and say Hey!, 8) Gotta beer?

If you are another Solo Burner & very 'Radically Self Reliant' - Maybe we can 'Do What We Do!' :P

You should consider the shower and toilet in the RV as non-usable. With very small holding tanks for both black and gray water, these tanks will fill up within hours. Water will run out in the tank after one shower. Cooking and food storage will not support 5 people. Small fridge, small stove, small everything.

Consider all the cooking, dish washing, showering and toilet use not happening inside the RV.

If I were you, I would plan on the RV just for sleeping, and even at that, it will be tight with 5 people. Tables convert to beds, and tiny pull downs are still considered for sleeping two people.

While I agree with Sham that the sleeping and dining set up of most RV's is tight and ideally designed for family (i.e. people who are used to sharing with, and bumping into each other ...), with careful management of the fresh/grey/black water resources a couple can spend an entire burn without having to pump out or refill.

In our case (two of us), we utilized the "quick wet down - turn off water - lather up - rinse off" method, AND used the toilet (except for 2 times the entire burn) for all needs and still ended up with room to spare. We showered each day.

In fact, we viewed our RV as a very expensive toilet!

We are again using an RV and have no concerns in the waste / fresh water area.

Now ... we don't envision sharing that space with anyone else as there seems to be a good amount of sexual energy that needs to be dealt with during that week and until we start sharing THAT experience, we will probably keep the RV to ourselves.
I'm fucked. I've caught the dusty virus ... and I want to spread it around.

Have you filled the spots in the RV yet? My friend and I are looking to share an RV. We are coming from SF, but can meet you somewhere?
