Hi everyone!

I am trying to figure out when I need to leave BRC, I have a full days drive and a flight to catch by sept 4th and I am trying to decide if I should leave on the 2nd before the man burns or stay to watch the burn with my car packed and ready and leave directly after the burn. I know there is no way to know how long it could take to exit at any because of so many outside factors storms, accidents on the highway etc etc but has anyone left right after the man burns or a few hours after ? What kind of wait general times am looking at ? I assume leaving in the daytime before the man burns is probably fairly low traffic, but I'd like to see the burn if possible so any tips or predictions in this area are very much appreciated ! Much love!!

If you try to exit immediately after the burn, there will be delays before you get to pavement. Gate says that exit traffic usually lightens about 2 AM after the burn. That would mean less waiting time before you get to pavement, but you still may arrive later at your destination than if you had left a few hours earlier and endured the long exodus.

Of course, it's safer and easier to drive on less crowded highways, so it may be worth your time to wait until 2 AM. Last year when I exited, the traffic was solid all the way to Wadsworth and the speed never exceeded 45 MPH. But that was after the amber alert fiasco.
