Does anyone have an idea on when DGS notifications will be sent?

I think the JRS just covered that topic. Big question is who do you talk to if your camp is doubling in size and offerings, and you need more DGS to make that happen?

Big answer: Placement.
And the first Placement Newsletter arrived yesterday. If you did not receive it, you are not on Placement's e-mail list for camp leaders, so contact your camp lead with any concerns.

Starting a new camp this year with several campers who have formerly been placed but none of whom were camp leaders in the past. How do I get on Placement's email list?

The DGS form is supposed to open 2/14, and invites were going out 2/13 per JRS. Haven't seen anything yet, fingers crossed.

Anyone else have a lot fewer seeds for the DGS than they did last year?
We just got ours and we have about half of our allotment last year.

40% reduction here. But then they were generous to us last year I thought. Nonetheless a problem to be dealt with.

[mod hat off]
Ours were reduced by about 50% as well, and I've heard from another camp that there's were reduced too (though not as much).
PURE SPECULATION: There's almost as many DGS tickets as Regular tickets, and as the program has gone on a few years now I think the Org is refining it to spread them around more. I have NO inside information on this, just remembering that 2016 camps complained that they got a bit less then 2015, and now there's a reduction again. The tickets are still going out, I just wonder if they're being spread out more. Personally I think that's great - it would help get rid of the notion that the DGS tix are an elite insiders club instead of something you work for.
[now where did I put that hat? Oh, there it is...]

Keeping in mind that each DGS invite can buy 2 tickets, double your number of invites for your total DGS ticket number.
If I recall correctly, 2016 was the first year where DGS was a guaranteed ticket. 2015 and prior DGS was still first-come-first-serve and got sold out, more invites were sent than tix available, and each invite was for only 1 ticket. (My point being that it's hard to compare 2017 allotment with 2015 or prior because the whole distribution system is different now). We got fewer invites in 2016 than 2015 also, but since each code was guaranteed tickets we actually ended up with MORE tix successfully purchased. I much prefer the new system, even if it results in fewer invites being sent to a camp. We got a few more DGS in 2017 than 2016, but our camp size also grew in size notably since 2015. Either way we are thankful to get any DGS tickets at all. WINK.

I have been a camp lead for a large esplanade camp for 4 years. (MV and placed art for 10) Through the whole ticket change process. Dgs is based on allocation of many things considered. All along the dgs individual invite has allowed for 2 tickets per invite. And once the dgs added vp it originally allowed 2 Vp this year is each invite is 2 tickets and one vp again encouraging carpooling esp. among the infrastructure. The dgs is to ensure the foundation of camps, art, and etc. services
Ticket allotment amounts will always be up to a certain amount of actual tickets so there is no guarantee your invites will work ( always once they are gone - they are gone) the purpose is still just to allow for your basic team to be in place. They were never meant for total camp or project population. My camp can fluctuate by as many as 100 people per year based on what additional things we offer. Our core camp is always more than 150 needed just to provide the participation we have for decades. If your camp in changing to or from a village or combination of offerings and size of population you should definitely contact your placement team. ASAP if your dgs amount changes it is based on how you did or have done and what you have told them AND what they have recorded. It's a complicated process that we can all work with and a much needed task once tickets became a mess of scalpers and forgeries. You all did too good of a job making people want to come to burningman so it is your fault!

We just got our email. In 2015, we got a decent number of tickets, and in 2016 we got almost double that! It certainly wasn't everyone in our camp, but it seemed strange since so many other people's allotment had been reduced, while we did not ask for more. This year, our offering has been reduced to our 2015 number, which is good enough for our purposes. Enough to guarantee that our absolute core members needed to build and run our camp can attend.

This year I believe that is not the case.
Mine was made single rather than a pair this year, which is insufficient.
The good old days of BRC are gone, that's for sure.

Capt. Did your invite say staff instead of camp. Those are singles.

In my letter, it states each invite gets 2 tickets and 1 car pass.

Hmm. Guess it depends where yours comes from. Mine says there are two rounds, a second (or more) may happen in the next round.
I'm tellin' ya, BRC is getting more "SF" all the time. SF real estate has been priced right out of sight a long time...

Capt., Did you get the email yesterday about 'The state of volunteerism 2017"? The Volunteer Leadership Council is evaluating all of the Depts. and making adjustments to perks. I don't know if your case is an adjustment or not. It's inconvenient for a dedicated volunteer to get only one ticket. On the other hand, it's not fair for one volunteer to get two tickets. Camp tickets are different. I'm sure you have contacted them to inquire. You and your First Mate will be there. I just know it.

I also got just one ticket for my MV. The way it was explained to me is that the DMV got their DGS allotment reduced, so they had to spread 700 slots around to 568 MV's. Since mine is a small car, they granted me one. They did say that there would be a round 2 in July and that more tix might be available. I have other avenues for tickets so it's not as much impact for me and mine. But I could see where the Capn' would be more than a bit put off to only get one.

The ticket dilemma hits everyone eventually. Eplaya is a great way to keep in touch with friends and get tickets. Personally I've missed out on the main sale and begged here successfully. (Thank you. I love you and I'll be your best friend forever.) 'Friends don't let friends stay home.'

Is the same method as was done last year - the number of codes matches the number of tickets - being done this year? So that there will be no need to buy right when sales open at noon on Mar 1?

Seems like it. I have found the most reliable information comes in the Placement emails and the emails from Ticketing. I have always followed the instructions in those communications and never had a problem with DGS.
