Hey all, virgin here. This will be my first year, and I just want some clarification. I thought burning man was a week? But the dates are 27th august -4th of september. Thats 9 days. Is there early entry or late departure or something I'm missing? When are we allowed in and when do we depart? I'm coming direct from Oregon Eclipse so I'm trying to figure out hotels for the two or three days in between, plus how many days worth of water I need. Was going to bring two gallons per day, for 8 days but it looks like 9 now?

Bring water for 9 days so you have extra and stay tuned to the Jack Rabbit Speaks to learn of this year's Gate opening time. Typically it is some time Sunday morning IIRC. Don't arrive early or you will be put in D lot until they feel like letting you in to the event. Arriving early without a WAP is a huge pain in the ass for Gate volunteers.

Technically, the event is 7 days long and starts on Sunday August 27th when they open the gates for the general population. The exact time they will open the gate is unknown at this time. The event ends the following Sunday September 3rd and you have until Tuesday the 5th to clear out. Some people will have early entry passes that will allow them through the gates before Sunday so they can build their theme camp.

It's not a bad idea to pack water for 9 days if you can.

Don't sweat it. You can go to Orphans Too and get rehydrated any time you need.

Thanks guys, I'll bring water for 9 days most likely and try to clear out that Monday, depending on if i get a trailer or not.
