Small group looking to join/organize a theme camp

Post by loki206 » Fri Apr 06, 2018 2:29 pm

We are a group of 6 burners looking for a camp. Here is our deal, 4 people are experienced burners, ranging from 5 to 15 previous burns, 2 people are virgins, 4 people are flying in, 2 are driving from Southern California. We have a 10x20 garage tent, 12 panel hexayurt, small generator, and a basic camp furniture/cooking/lighting setup, plus personal tents. The veterans among us have extensive participation experience, including creating a 30+ person theme camp from the ground up, and held leadership positions in several theme camps throughout the years.

Having been in high volume Esplanade type camps, this year we are aiming for a more low key burn that does not involve working 12 hours days, every day, throughout the whole week. We are looking for a laid back camp where we can participate and be involved in the community, while also having fun time available to explore all burning man has to offer. All of us are planning to arrive as early as possible, and leave late, so our group is all about camp set-up and tear down, from the first rebar to the last piece of MOOP. During the week each person can commit to up to 10-15 hours of camp shifts.

There are many camps out there that are recruiting and have $500 camp fees, that is not for us, as we both already have some infrastructure and are looking to keep camp costs low. If you are a camp looking for members or another small camping group that would like to combine forces to become a theme camp (application deadline is april 26th) please get in touch with me.

Now THIS is how you present yourself as a prospective camp member(s). Good luck on your search! I am sure you will have little trouble making it happen!

loki206, Congrats! I pronounce that you are now an independent theme camp. (I filled out my application today.) Tiger Man Camp is made up of 5 dedicated burners. Last year was the first time we requested placement and everything went smoothly. We have a killer event that runs all week whenever anyone is in the camp to do it. There is usually someone there and now we'll schedule a few hours a day for our gift to the community. Feel free to email me about small theme camping. Be your own boss. That way you work for a genius.

Anti M's Home for Wayward Art is another 5 person theme camp, although we are within the village of Hushville. My application went in early. You certainly can do this, and even if you do not get placement, you certainly have the people and resources to be Independent Camp. Have fun, let us know how it goes!

BRCW&R is low total obligation and low in camp shared expenses. Were a repair camp so being a Handy Little Fucker is nice but not required. We mostly fix bikes but there is no repair we wont take on unless we know it's absolutely hopeless. My main goal with camp is having a good place for people to experience the burn from while contributing to the burn in a meaningful way. Were pretty laid back and not looking for big egos or commanders. We expect all individuals and groups to be RSR but there are camp assets that make things a little nicer. Aka If you want a shower... Bring it. If you want to hang out in group shade it's there for you so hang out. Get in touch with me if this sounds like what you are looking for. Cheers! Motz.

Would love to join (there's two of us and we're down to help in any way). We would have motorhome (not sure if that's cool or not). How do you apply?
