Hey, couple of skydiver burner virgins. How do we get set up at the skydiver camp?

Cheers,
Runway

Did you use the search engine at the bottom of the Burning Man home page?

If you did, then you found the link to: Burning Sky (BurningSky.org)

Contact Burning Sky:
General Information or Web Support: [email protected]
DZ Manager: [email protected]
Registration & Dues Questions: [email protected]

Sheeze. I found this information in about 20 seconds and I have no vested interest in skydiving a'tall.

Runway, I had to Google it to see what you called that guy. Who's smarter? The guy that jumps out of a perfectly good airplane or the guy that flys it and lands? Well Meathunter is the latter. You're welcome.

LOL it's not a derogatory term. It just means someone that doesn't skydive.

And I was in the AF...there's no such thing as a perfectly good plane LOLOLOLOL

As an aircraft failure survivor, I can second that.

I believe they’re in the sky. Unless they’ve landed, then they’re on the ground

I'm just 7 jumps into AFF and hoping to jump with Burning Sky, possibly in 2019.

The irreverent impetuous indolence shown above is not representative of all skydivers!!!

Jeeezus I asked a question...I didn't know the place was called Burning Sky. I tried searching different iterations of skydive and got old threads that didn't answer my question. I thought the point to a forum was that you could ask questions.

And 7 jump wonder...skydivers are friendly and encourage question asking, FYI. It's part of our safety culture. I know you're new to the sport, so there you go.

Well, I don't jump out of perfectly good airplanes, or broken ones :) , but googling Burning Man sky diving, the first two replys are Burning Sky

I don’t know why people are being all cranky, that’s usually my job.

I hope you have an excellent burn and a sweet dive :coffee:

Thanks Lucky420. You as well! I'll see you out there :)

I've asked for the topic to be closed since I got the info I needed. Everyone's wadded panties need time to untwist anyway.

Cheers,
Runway

Hi Runway,

Responses in ePlaya are a mixture of helpful information, snark and ass-hole-ish knee-jerk sludge... Frequently annoying, often hilarious. Please don't let the negative out way the positive!

Many have been on this board for a long time and seen many outrageous, frustrating posts - where it is obvious that zero effort was put in finding answers. over and over, the same questions/expectations, etc. Often, is is not the exact question that is the issue - but how it is asked. If, while asking a question, one indicates prior effort spent on searching - bzam, way more likely to get helpful (minimal jerky) responses.

Good luck, and may your burn be what you need.

I was at the Black Rock Observatory one dark night in 2016 when they had a night jump. The skydivers had some sort of sparkly pyrotechnic device, but in the dark sky all you could see was a trail of sparks. The astronomers were almost jizzing in their pants, thinking they had spotted some sort of super comet...hustling to get a telescope on it...but then their adrenalin crashed when they figured out it was just skydivers. It was still cool to watch!

Mod note: eplaya has a long history of stand by your words, we do not delete topics just because the OP is done. Oh no. It began as an anti-trolling measure, and become policy. You have an initial 3 hours to do any edits, after that, the post stands unless it violates the TOS or guidelines and needs moderation. Your post and all responses are now a part of eplaya strata. Welcome aboard!

You posted the skydiver equivalent of 'hey where are all the sex camps?' on a public message board - that's likely to result in some snarky responses. You can recover from it, and hopefully learn enough information to get pointed in the right direction.

As I'm sure you'd discover through doing some research, aside from connecting with a camp of skydivers or plane owners (or having your own plane and pilot), you need to have a lot of jumps under your belt (I think well over a hundred?). I'm not sure of the particulars, or how their scheduling works, but once you connect with the group I'm sure you can discover the details.
