Hi Guys.

My friends and I are super keen to come to BM in 2019, but I can't find any info for 2019 tickets! The website link for 2019 takes me to info for 2018......

I have seen that there are tickets on viagogo but I can't tell if they are legitimate!

Any help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Legitimate tickets for 2019 will not be available before next year.

Patience is your friend :D

Sign up for the Jackrabbit Speaks newsletter, the dates when the ticket information, registration, and sales, will be announced. It is simply too early. Any tickets listed now are not valid or authentic. Patience.

Mod note: moving this topic to Tickets Discussion. Greeter's Station is not appropriate for ticket begging/seeking/discussion.

Hi! Resurrecting an old thread.
I just discovered today the Jackrabbit Speaks newsletter and of course I directly subscribed to it.
I wonder if an announcement about the ticket sales phases openings for 2019 has been done through the newsletter from october to late december (now).
Thank you!

No worries JeffBdn, you haven't missed any ticket announcements. I'm glad you're excited. Harness that energy to begin to plan how you will be totally self sufficient the entire week you are in the desert as well as how you'll contribute, and you'll be well on your way to a worthwhile experience.

Good luck on ticket sale day!

Thanks burner von braun!
By experience, is it really hard to get a ticket, due to the limited amount vs increasing number of people eager to contribute?

Yes.

There are 10's of thousands of tickets that go on sale. Everyone looking for tickets should sign up for email alerts with Jack Rabbit Speaks. https://burningman.org/culture/stories/jrs/ This will give you the latest pulse on tickets as well as all other important info.

Also, you will need to set up a profile on the Burner Profile page. This will give you your portal to order tickets when they go on sale. In the past, tickets have gone on sale as early as January. No announcement has been made yet, but it should be coming very soon. https://profiles.burningman.org/

There is somewhere between 70,000 and 80,000 tickets for Burning Man. The vast majority of them go to participants in general sales. Last year they ranged in price from $425 to $1200, with low income tickets also offered for less than that. All tickets simply get you in the gate and have no other benefits based on price. The higher priced tickets tend to be available by logging on and just ordering, where the lower priced ones sell out almost immediately when the sale opens. You will also need a vehicle pass (VP) for each car/RV/truck/bus entering the event.

Ok. Then I'll have to be swift and quick on it.
I expected that from how the 2018 Tickets Sales were structured.
Thanks for the precisions!

I expect ticket information for 2019 should be available shortly after the first of the new year.

We're well into January, and ticket info on the burningman.org site still hasn't been updated to reflect 2019. If this year follows last year's schedule, registration for pre-sale tickets is less than two weeks away. Help...FOMO!

The BORG would have to know the population cap to design the ticket plan. The BORG and the BLM were working through the EIS which sets the population cap. I haven't heard a date for the EIS. There are about 4 BLM staff in Winnemucca connected to the event. The BLM would have a choice to consider them funded by the event and able to work, or furrowed. The shutdown can't last much longer and there is plenty of time for ticket sales. This is also a perfect example of why it's useful for the BORG to have a cash reserve until the ticket sale funds flow.

I'm sure the BLM has many a furrowed brow (often) but now they are probably furloughed! :D

Latest jackrabbit had no mention of tickets. Damn the shutdown must be delaying things as suspected, oh well back to waiting.

Howdy all!

So just to clarify - do you think the pre-sale will go ahead on the same/similar dates as last year? Or will they wait to release tickets until after the government shut down as ended? I dont think there is any official info out there at the moment regarding pre-sale tickets, but there are a couple of websites listing the presale as starting on 1 Feb 2019

I'm coming from Australia so really dont want to miss out and the pre-sale is probably my best shot at tickets! :D

Thanks in advance!

Isn't the presale for the super expensive tickets? I'm going to wait until the normal tier starts personally.

yeah presale is for the super expensive ones, but given i'm coming from far away I'm willing to pay extra for tickets cause I'll save money on booking flights this far in advance.

Just not sure whether they still plan on having the presale on the 1st of Feb or whether it will be delayed cause of the govt shutdown....

There does seem to be a bit of a lack of info on 2019 tickets unfortunately

It's pretty common for the ORG to not say much at all before they release info or change the website information but when they do there is often a JRS email shortly after and many times a Journal publication too. Keep your ear to the ground around here and you will hear about it when the new ticket info is published.

The pre-sale registration had already happened by this time last year. Seems like we're a little behind here.

Agreed. BLM was on the list of agencies affected by the shut down. Perhaps environmental review and final population cap for 2019 aren't completed. The only other explanation is Burning Man has been canceled for this year.

I had a vision last night: the shutdown starts again in 3 weeks and the BLM is never able to finish whatever it is in time for burning man 2019. Hardcore types go anyway and it's an awesome burn for once, just like back in '97. For whatever reason I decide to go to vegas instead, and I never have my awakening and instead spend the rest of my life pursuing greed and other hollow pursuits. I die bitter, alone, and neglected at a state run old folks home.

Hopefully this has done something really good by complete accident:

No presale means nobody with a $1200 golden parachute trying to score main sale tickets so they can pawn off the early order on someone desperate to get to the desert.

I've heard that before in the context of tickets but I don't get it. I hope it doesn't involve pee.

I was going to buy presale tickets but now I'm scared.

In this context, it just means someone who would buy the $1200 early tickets then try to score again in the main sale so they could scalp the presale ticket at 'what they paid for it'.

Changes for 2019 tickets will include:

Moving the ‘Pre-Sale’ to after the Directed Group Sale. We are prioritizing the Directed Group Sale since it supports key contributors to Black Rock City (theme and mutant vehicle camps, art collectives, and core teams).
Growing the Directed Group Sale. There will be 10% more tickets allocated to the Directed Group Sales. Meaningful participation is the most valuable currency in Black Rock City.
Expanding Low Income allocation. In our ongoing effort to enable participants with limited budgets, we’re growing the application-based Low Income Ticket Program by 18%.
Adjusting high-priced ticket sales. There will be one high-priced ticket level and we’re reducing the overall number available by 30%. Higher-priced tickets will now be limited to 2 per person instead of 4 per high-priced tier, and buyers in what was formerly the “Pre-Sale” will no longer be able to participate in subsequent public sales.
Eliminating the ‘Limited Sale.’ For the past two years one could purchase $1,200 tickets via Burner Profiles into July. This will no longer be the case.

Does this mean a decrease of 10% in the main sale?

That math would hold true if all of those categories had the same amount of tickets in each one... but they don't.
