Plug&Play Camp PlayaSkool - Camp Probably intentionally left Moop to keep deposit and legally steal money from people

Theme camps and villages are the interactive core of Burning Man. This is the place to announce and discuss camp and village plans for Burning Man 2019.

Mmmm. But if a newbie, who knows no better, is led to believe that buying an all-inclusive resort package is the burner way; do we, as a community, not have a responsibility to respond?
That state of willing ignorance has no place on the playa. I almost see these fleecing camps as liberating money from those who don't deserve it.

Really though, that's just a secondary non-concern, I really just want to see both such business camps and their customers off the playa. I propose voiding tickets and evictions to really create a lot of ruined not-burns and to really create a state fear surrounding the use of such camps.

Hmmm.

I would prefer pre-ticket sale education, I think.

A LOT of 'no PnP, don't buy your burn' info on all of the social media platforms.
More emphasis on participation.

More clarity on actual camp practices regarding work/benefits.

Encouraging self-reliance in the newbies; camp alone, make friends, scope the scene, find a camp to join for next year type activities.

You guys keep talking about pnp camps but nobody ever posts on how to actually join one. I'm fairly well off, I'm offended that I haven't been approached. Here I've been schlepping my own gear to burning man like a poor for years!

I demand a/c, tempurpedic mattress, gourmet meals, and a coterie of attractive male sparkle ponies each more clueless than the last. If your pnp camp meets those criteria please pm me so my people can coordinate my stay for me. (bitcoin payment option preferred).

A Burning Man camp that charged up to $100,000
This came out last night
https://mashable.com/article/burning-man-humano/
If burning man really what’s to fix itself just put a name on the ticket of the buyer, and checked at the gate, so no scalping on tickets, if you can’t make it return to ticketfly for full refund, then the ticket is resold at face value.

We should not try complete the list of offenders.

Nothing good will come from that

Only the Burning Man org can take appropriate action. Perhaps inform them ?

I turned off my ad blocker on my new machine, so I'm now seeing how the other half lives. So now I get to see preroll ads on a popular video site.

The ads are for a luxury oil state airline which seems to have suites and SHOWERS on the plane. WTF!

I enjoy my solar shower on the playa, about 1/2-3/4 gallon, and I've been responsible for greywater for several of my camps. So washing is fine. The issue is are there social limits to luxury on playa?

IMO, instead of the PnP expending the world's wealth on creating luxury without end on the playa, that they should opt for community without end. Besides, a week of reduced caloric intake and detox might be better for them, even in their own value system.

Like flying shower water on a plane, everything brought to the playa for our wilderness campout is carried in and out at ridiculous expense by OSS or by our overloaded vehicles, both at great carbon expense.

Showers on airlines are like __ on-playa? Let's have the discussion on toning it down, PnPs. Which story has more value: "I experienced __ luxury on playa, or I met __ and connected with them and I challenged myself and discovered __?

Man... I took two different campers to BM over the last couple decades, I paid $1500 for each of ‘em.
They were ‘80s models. But they had AC, showers, and all the other comforts. I’ve been trying to tell people for years that you can have all the cool, clean comfort in BRC you want, without being rich.
You do have to buy a stout truck, but that doesn’t have to be expensive either. I went most often in an ‘83 Chevy crew cab dually or an ‘86 GMC crew cab dually.
They weren’t expensive trucks.
I’ve carried 100 gallons of water every time I’ve gone over the last couple decades, plus waste water containers to haul it out as grey.
I had less into my whole setup than the masses paid El Monte RV to rent something.
Be a goddamm burner. Scrounge up some old stuff, fix it if need be, and make it work.
You don’t have to just swipe your credit card and rent, or drop $100k for an RV.

And really, that’s better burner gear anyway. I’ve actually got a nearly $100k truck & camper at home, that I will NEVER take to that dirty, corrosive, shithole of a location.
Hell no!!

Everyone says don’t take your “good” bike out there. Hell don’t bring a nice RV either. Even a clean and dolled up oldie, with cold AC and hot water, is the freekin’ Four Seasons in BRC.

Cap, that is all well and good. We looked into getting a beater RV, but the cost of renting a place to park it was higher than we expected. Can't park an RV on the street. You can park it in a driveway as long as you have a hard structure to hide it, which we cannot do due to being in a historic district.

My garage is not deep enough to park a truck in it. I barely manage to get my Cooper, Ranchero (this one is very tight), and Cobra (sits on the lift) in it.

I agree we could do it a lot cheaper. I am just out of options for vehicles unless I get rid of something to make room for another one. It would not be an RV though, or a fifth wheel. I just do not have the physical space for it.

I’m dealing with HOA problems all the time myself. You could do what I’m doing... sell the joint and move to where you can have what you want. I’m gonna go get a place that has a big shop, or space to put one up. And no HOA to tell me I can’t.
Being in a historic district is even worse than just an HOA neighborhood... and you build cars? How have you survived?!!!

Good and bad being in a historic district. Tax breaks are good.

Our home is not a contributing structure so we have a lot more freedom to make changes, but there are many restrictions.

It is our retirement home. I get away with a lot, but I tend to do what it takes to mask what I am doing. Charcoal filters in the garage exhaust masks the TIG/MIG welding and plasma cutting. Audio matting in the walls helps keep the noise from the 60 gallon 5HP compressor at bay.

It is very well lit and with it being air conditioned and heated I can keep the doors closed when working in it.

We are also two blocks from 3 major hospitals. Getting older requires preparation. :)
