Post by lachy » Sun Jan 05, 2020 8:42 pm

HI guys,

We are currently seeking an engineer to join our team and help with our 2020 honorarium submission before the 22nd of January.

Any Leeds would be greatly appreciated!

Do you need an engineer to drive a locomotive?

Maybe an engineer to design a printed circuit board?

I’m betting you need an engineer to design an earthen dam to make a lake on the Playa?

Perhaps you need software for your lighting and visuals?

No, wait, you need a power engineer for your distribution grid?

Am I even close?

Yes Mr Token, any leads are welcome...

OP, the BORG and the BLM have been on a safety first jag, AKA it's your liability, not ours, and we have moar attorneys than u.

So you want to understand fast, or via Facebook specific playa build groups, exactly what the BORG wants in 2020, and copies of the 2019 contracts or early copy of the 2020 contract. Do they need a licensed professional engineer (in what state?) or just some official looking calculations to sink you in a future lawsuit?

The other question is what your insurance wants.

I would PM every 2019 honorarium recipient for clues.

Hey, I used the snark font ;)

I could have done the civil, structural, or truss engineer and the usual request for minimal details like location, type of materials used (lumber, steel, etc.), maybe an idea of scale and size ...

You know, the usual bits left off.

The pickle will be, as you mention, the requirements from the BORG, liability, licensure requirements if any etc.

Fair call.

Update* Looking for a timber engineer to help with a free standing structure 10 feet length by 20 feet high by 3 feet wide (undulates in height)

Thanks for your reply some seeing eye. At the moment i'm looking for calculations / design advice to submit with our proposal. California would be ideal. i'm from Sydney, Australia.

Cheers Lachy

You are going to need the Washoe County wind code. The organizer of Sextant Camp is an expert on earth anchors. What you want is a structural engineer.

Good luck in your search! If I could help you with something, I would certainly do it. But unfortunately I have no one to remember, who really can help you
