New Femme-centric BM ZINE needs contributions! Participate!

La Femme Rouge will be an old-school, retro, black and white, 'ZINE focused on Wo/men's and female-identifed people's experiences in Black Rock City and feminine perspectives on Burning Man and its culture.

We want to co-create a femme-centric community of ideas, images, and support to help carry us through this transitional, dust-less time and into the wide open future. It will be a unique textural work of art to experience in your own home!

Send us your stories, poems, rants, reviews and reflections, dreams and visions, visual art of all kinds, cartoons, drawings, comics, and any physical swag (pendants, stickers, patches, etc.) that could be copied and printed in 2D. We will collect everything into the MOST AMAZING 'ZINE EVER, print it at our own cost (yes, on actual paper), and distribute copies through snail mail to anyone who wants them. Fun, right??

Submission Guidelines:

— anyone is welcome to submit, as long as the work reflects a feminine perspective on BM
— BIPoC and LGBTIQA+ voices welcome and amplified here!
— the tone of pieces can fall anywhere along a spectrum of "positive" to "negative"
— send as email attachment to [email protected]
—1000 words or less for written works, in .pdf or .doc format
— 8.5" x 11" or smaller for visual art, (color pieces will be printed in B&W), in .pdf file format
— include the title of the piece, a name you'd like us to credit (playa name and/or given name), and any contact info you'd like us to print that will allow others to find you and tell you how much they love your piece.
— for physical swag, please email [email protected] to receive a mailing address
— cross your fingers and do a happy dance
— everyone who submits will receive a FREE COPY, whether or not their work is included

DEADLINE: submissions must be received by August 19th, the next new moon. Selected contributors will be notified by email….um…sometime after that…

Legal-ish Stuff:

By sending us a submission, you affirm that:
— it is your own original work, and you're not a mean and insensitive plagiarist.
— you grant La Femme Rouge permission to publish and spread your work to Burners around the world
— we may re-size or reformat your work for layout
— we may ask you to copyedit your work for length or focus prior to publication
— you will receive no financial compensation, because hey, this is all one big gift!
