Models needed for bronze casting

Post by mdmf007 » Sun Feb 07, 2010 7:04 pm

So - I erased my original post somehow when all i wanted to do was add more info.

Many of you know that I do goofy projects at BM, last years (2009) was a mobile mojito and corn dog cart that served several evenings after midnight.

(2008) was a pair of greek lanterns.. large steel lanterns full of fire in cauldrons 20 feet off the ground.

2010's project involves casting bronze. I intend to mold 6 persons and produce full sized bronze casts to stage in a life scene. I have four models willing to be casted and need two more. 1 each male and female. I am not looking for supermodels, but real people. If your a supermodel that kicks ass too. You will need the ability to be patient while the goo is applied, then wait 30 minutes without moving significantly.

Process is simple. It is a nude cast - so you must be comfortable with a couple of people slathering dental amalgam all over you. You can bring your own assistants for the private parts if you like or do it yourself first. I intend to mold in 4 sections.

Feet to mid calf. Mid calf to widest point of hips, Widest point of hips to neck. Head and arms as separate casts. Dental amalgam is the best hair remover on earth, so if you do not shave it, its coming out more than likely. So you need to shave well from neck to feet.

these casts are filled with wax. Wax is removed and a sand mold is made, fired then placed in a 3 axis rotary mold. Bronze poured in and rotated to make a hollw cast. These casts are assembled by welding, then polished to make seamless.

all done. I can gift a mold in aluminum or bronze when done as well.

I live in the Puget Sound region. From start to finish should take no more than four hours at our shop.
