Awake far too early. Around nine last night there was a thrumming sound, than a very loud, very bright, buzz-hum-WHam-pop! The transformer two houses down blew up. Three times, I guess it tried to reset itself. Power company said lightning, but there was none, it was definitely the high wind. Scary wind, the trees were doing that moaning thing. Once it is daylight, I have to go look for down branches.

Ok, Got some time with the computer today, loved catching up on some of the post playa threads. I see some name changes , liking mine!
We have a three day weekend around here. lots of work was done, now a break, then comes the tedious part. DPW is a trip. the entire crew is in the bar behind me getting hammered there's talk of a bike race down Jango rd. the heat, the blurr of blazing days with work and the same faces from the party helping you help them tear apart all the things. The dusty looks that are incomplete without energy transformed by a wave and a smile. somewhere out there on the playa I nonce saw joy on my friends Faces and that gave me eminence joy. we have that here too. our party's are a cross between thunderdome and a tailgate party set to a soundtrack of swalking radios, janky drinking songs and and cries of fuck yeah!

Guess whaaat? It's happy hour in Califa. Norte. I sit here twice a day reading all the posts on my 'list' and try to remember if I had ANY interaction with these people. (Hey I'm not old, just 61 but my memory was never great). I vow to visit each and every one of you next year. I'll take your picture and do something memorable like raid your cooler for a beer or give you a foot massage. The burn just whizzes by at lightening speed. Then it's the sloooooooooow crawl till next time. This year was GREAT! I saw most of the art before they burnt it. I tried not to hang in camps and party till I was incoherent. I got to go out with Robbi Dobbs and do the potties. ((loving Robbi))) I came early and stayed late. Seriously. How can you top that? My campmate takes too many pictures. Why doesn't he email them to me? I want pictures. Some of the high points....Of course the M&G, the burn and my new neighbors Abba Zabba and Patricia. It was kinda fun having DPW neighbors. I would trade warm beer for cold ones. Mad Max gave me what he termed, "The best swag I would get this year". Kind of egotistical don't cha think. Well, the roast pig should be done by now. Then CSI re-runs and back to work. A work-a-holics work is never done.

It you see that art car with bras hanging on it, give them the finger. They TOOK my bra offa me and then 'had to go'. It was the last bar of the night and I didn't know they were mobil. I was left on J or K street to crawl back to my beddy. It was Molly something.

A belated welcome back/hello everyone! Pandorra and I got back last week, but due to some campmates backing out the truck unload took a lot more time and effort to get done, someone hit our van (parked on the street, nobody hurt), and we got a new 2-month old kitty. Plus, big projects outside of playa stuff in crunch mode and ridiculously overstuffed inboxes (like I imagine a lot of people come back to)... and I'm still playing catchup. All my ePlaya time has been mostly devoted to back-end admin stuff, many many thanks to the rest of the team for helping to keep things covered.

The wife is talking about adopting another critter after having just lost one. I'm reluctant due to the commitment (but I also get antsy with anything more than a daily commuter pass). Today is the first day in the last 35 that I haven't shed a tear (but it's early yet).

As for Inboxes, mine fell just short of 500 unread, unbelievable since no one knows me AND I work in a kitchen! First world problems.
