HI gang! thanks for the birthday wishes!
This decade is proving to be a challenge, now in the 5th year of my 7th decade.
But, we carry on, and do the best we can! Sally forth into the fray!

Lol, embrace the fluke. I don’t feel so special, no mo’. We got snow here. I wonder if our local snow plow driving eplayan is hard at work still. I forget his handle… something with “cat.” Salute!

yeah we got snow, too. not much, but enough to break the red dogwood tree i've been nurturing for the last 22 years....sigh. The whole trunk broke, but there is a little cambium left, and a few small limbs below the break. the broken part is laying on the ground, but still attached. Wish I knew if I should cut it off, or see if it heals, and if I can do anything to help.

I am not knowledgeable about damaged trees, but if the roots, trunk and bark are intact to the few branches… could have a nice bush start? Would be nice if you could splint it, and cement it up like the horta😉. Is it a flowering tree?

yeah, maybe so ? I hope it can grow from the remaining limbs buds and trunk/roots.
I always braced it for snow, but the forecast didn't call for it, so it broke right where the permanent brace was. It had a substantial lean to it so I knew it was vulnerable. Had we had a snow forecast, I'd have added more bracing like I always do. Also, it had all it's leaves still so that caught more snow weight. I'm thinking I'll leave it as it is and see what happens, unless advised otherwise. Often in stuff like this, the more I help, the worse it gets.

It looks like I got up to the Hof to drain the spring tank just in time. Sounds like more snow is on the way up there.
Also, got a photo of a nice bobcat at my gate. First one I've seen there, though have seen one years ago in the area. Looks big and healthy, so that's nice to see. It's on the left of the photo, in the shadows.

Morning bar. :coffee: :coffee:

Nice cat, ygmir. I recall your rodent issues in your temporary abode there, good eating for a cat I suppose.

Todays TV mystery theme of the week on KFJC and Robert Emmett’s Norman Bates Memorial Soundtrack Show was “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends.” So, I got that right.

anybody around?
It's nice to be back on regular commercials on tv...
We're getting some winter, good start, we sure need it out west here.
Now to hope it continues. We got some low elevation snow, and with all the trees still fully in leaf, tons of broken limbs and a few whole trees uprooted, even though it was only a few inches of snow. Haven't had a natural pruning like this in a long time.

Yes, the ads here were awful, worse than drive in b horror movies. I can’t be so sensationally blasted any longer. Snow looked wet and heavy here. Sunny today and only a little white left in the shady spots.

I’m thinking about getting a turkey today or tomorrow, a cheap one, maybe two! Cook and freeze one, and maybe freeze one uncooked for later. Mmmm🦃 Do you think a turkey in a coal fired pit would work outside the bar?

Sooooooooooo............... here's someone shitty doing shitty things that make everything shitty...... you need this quart of tequila!!!!!

I'm glad it's over too.

Hi Elorrum. yeah, I think a trukey on the Barby, maybe a few shrimps would be perfect! Add Figjams quart of tequila, and we're set!
Good call on the cheap turkeys. Good bargain on protein for the dollar there. They can keep in the freezer a long time. Even if they get "freezer burn", it's not spoiled, only dried out.
I'm thinking of ribs or lamb for thanksgiving.
FJ: I'm about half way through our bottle of Bushmills. I take a sip, from time to time, when it's a special moment, and recall the fun we had at TTITD and all that. Skol.

Today is "World population day".

In my lifetime (70 years) the population has gone from 3 billion to 8 billion.

The projection was that it would plateau at about 10B in the next 20 yrs and stay stable for the following 50.

Just some stats I heard on the news this morning.

I'd be surprised if the race lasted that long.

Ygmir is currently blocked on eplaya. An IT issue, he’s been told. No coffee, and we are needing to round up candles and blinkies to light the bar.

Nudge a mod. Get IT to work and send your vote of protest.
