the part that got me was the line where a bunch of folks were saying that the Arabs must find someone to hate if not Israel, and that they all want to kill the Israelis, and that they're all ignorant and uneducated, etc etc etc. And NO ONE spoke up against it. But really, anyone who wants to know what happened needs to read it for themselves, first hand, rather than taking my word for it.

#@ I'm scared to say to Lizwiz what I should say, that I find the effort to "define away" the existence of palistinians by saying it isn't a historical word scares me and scares me even more as a 1/4 jew whose father's family fled Germany post-Krystalnacht. Rian--I have read very few of your posts about your experience in Palistine, but what I have read chills me. It may be important to have direct experience, but it is also important for those lucky enough to have direct experience to share it. What you write is clear and chilling. That I don't take time out to read the entire oof has to do with me and my situation, not with your ostonishing powers of observation or your ability to put the horrors of humiliation and the living of life on the edge into prose.
