Luther's year-long celebration of modernist poet Marianne Moore ends tonight, Thursday, March 11. The final event, a lecture by Patricia Cannon Willis, takes place in Olin 102 at 7:30 p.m.

Willis’ lecture titled “Never Obscure to Myself: Marianne Moore’s ‘Marriage,’” is a study on Moore’s poem “Marriage.” Copies of the poem will be available at the lecture.

Willis is the Elizabeth Wakeman Dwight Curator of American Literature at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University. She has curated exhibitions on features of modernism at that same library. Formerly the Curator of Literature at the Rosenbach Museum and Library in Philadelphia, Willis has also edited a collection titled The Complete Prose of Marianne Moore.

Luther’s commemorative events for Moore, “A Place for the Genuine: Celebrating Marianne Moore,” were sparked by a loan of a collection of Moore’s letters. These letters, along with photographs of the poet, are displayed in Preus Library. Other events included a lecture, a J-term course on Moore’s writing, and a readers theater performance.
