Rarely. I'll watch bits that interest me because the boyfriend will have it on to unwind, but as a regular thing, no.

I like to read while the TV is on. I think I like the noise of the TV, makes it where I cant hear the ringing in my ears.

TPBM has a favorite author.

I surely do. I'm in love with words--reading them, writing them, singing them and slinging 'em around rather irresponsibly, although you can be sure that (unless I am being patently and obviously absurd) I am painfully sincere.

The person below me will tell me a few of their favorite movies.

Passport to Pimlico, The Fifth Element, Life of Brian (actually, pretty much any of the Python movies) - my preference is towards laughter.

I have seen so few. Safety Last (apparently there were burners in the 20s) was kind of a disappointment, it's so hard when you're watching through 21st century eyes. Birth of a Nation was simultaneously crappy and racist and melodramatic, and weirdly funny. (My mother and I were the only ones in the theatre to laugh, though. Everyone else was being all serious at seeing this seminal film.) I hold out hopes for the General, though.
tpbm likes Soviet bloc animation.

No. Reading Alice Miller has made the horror of Struwwelpeter old hat to me. No wait, it was the cats and my older sister that domesticated that to me. Just never listen to the opera by the Tiger Lillies. Dreadful.

Haven't a clue. Even after looking it up on Google and reading a book review my intellect feels like it is wavering on it.

TPBM equates a "polar vortex" to a tropical hurricane - just in a different season.

Potrous

This is a modern adaptation of a medieval recipe that came from a 15th century French cookbook. Often served as an appetizer or one of the first courses in a meal of several courses.

Ingredients for each serving:

1 large egg
1 Tbs coarse ground mustard (note: the mustard should not be one that is runny)
1 Tbs honey
1 sliver cheddar cheese 1 in. x 1/4 in. x 1/4 in.
1 tsp chopped fresh sorrel *
table salt if desired

Preparation:

1 - break the egg into an egg coddler (a small custard dish will do) without breaking the yolk.
2 - piercing the yolk in the top/center and carefully spoon the mustard into the center of the yolk
3 - Carefully spoon the honey into the center of the mustard
4 - placing the sliver of cheese upright, push it down into the center of the honey
5 - sprinkle the sorrel on top

Cooking:

1 - Bring just enough water to a gentle boil in a sauce pan so that it will not overflow into the egg coddler when it is placed in the water. (the water level shoulb 1/2 in. or slightly more from the rim of the coddler)
2 - Place the coddler in the boiling water and cook until the egg is cooked through.
3 - set coddler on a sacer at the table with a spoon. Pass salt at the table

* if sorrel caNnot be had lemon grass may be used.

I just want a donut from Bob's Donuts near me (not a chain, they make them from scratch...). Problem is, ever since the young & drunk took over our neighborhood there's a line out the door until past 3:30am.

There is a bakery in town that makes their own chocolate croissants. They are amazing...
