hey, sput! i guess i have been hiding ..... selling my place, buying a business with my sis, and moving to idaho is weighing on me a bit .....

ok, a little more than a bit! but it should give me plenty of time to paint, and some money, and maybe even a house ....! i've always wanted a little house ... and they are so unaffordable here....

but how to survive winter ... ??? i am such a weather wimp!

Those are all good reasons to not be here. The real world should take priority.

Winter....try not to fight it. Find things to do outside, get as much sun as possible.
It's going to be alright.

Had to invoke the five second rule (cheated, making it longer) as I just dumped four pounds of coffee beans on the kitchen floor. The vacuum sealed container lost its vacuum :( Just adds a little earthiness to the flavor
You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.

Whoopsie! At least with the grinding and subsequent brewing you'll get rid of all traces of something you wouldn't want to eat.
It's going to be alright.

5 second rule only applies to wet stuff...........

and, Sput, wouldn't dog hair and dust bunnies, just add to the subtlety?..........

It's possible Ygmir. Hell, some people drink coffee that started as a bean shat out by a cat, so a few dust bunnies would be preferable to me.

Staggers in, covered with dust,...
"I'll have a bottle of ANYTHING... and a jelly donut."

Proceeds to rummage thru civet shit for coffee beans.

"Okay, but wash it first!"

You ever see what that "jelly" donut filling is? Yeech - it'd no more dissolve than oil in Louisiana...

Lessee... bottle of anything?

This one's on the house. Prolly won't do much for all the civet shit, tho... sorry.

tips for keeping warm in very cold weather.

undertherms - they even make thin ones for ladies so no extra bulk.

then two pairs of socks - cashmere first, then wool over them.

lightweight gloves under heavy weight gloves.

cashmere scarfs and hats are soft and very warm.

and a coat where you almost can't put you arms down in.

I went from houston to upstate new york most christmases. its how I survived it. don't know how idaho (was that the state?) is.

I do silk long johns, colled by polypro, followed by wool... then whatever else.

I also have a Korean-war era parka (was my daddys), just the thing for those cold playa nites... it's almost long enough to sleep in. Pretty much all wool, silk, and a lambskin liner, brilliant invention.

And while booze will defeat heat conservation stuff, it makes the cold seem an awful lot more tolerable!!

yep, silk long johns is the answer for winter. And Sputnik is absolutely right - you need to find an activity that will capture your interest enough to get you outside. I do cross country skiing and I can work up a sweat even on a really cold day.

~steering clear of the coffee for a couple days - not sure what you'll find in it here today!!!

Will be silent for a little while - have to work hard to file more court papers by next Friday. Today I received my former husband's affidavit in response to my support motion. Hah, not pleasant reading. He thinks we had an on-and-off friendship and occasional dating for 17 years. And he added up the number of days we slept under the same roof - for a railroader who is home two nights a week, that's pretty fuckin rich! I have to find people to swear to our having had a relationship in which we lived under the same roof for 17 years! Jesus H. Christ.

thanks ... cashmere, silk, wool, and cross country skiing ..... excellent .... :D idaho is much milder than upstate new york, and i'm going to boise, which is high desert, so it really doesn't get that much snow.

that stinks, deb ..... hope it works out OK ....

I love the coffee cats!!! A girl after my own heart.

how is everyone's day going?

Deb I'll tell you the same thing I told someone in a similar situation: take him for all he put you through then and now. But do it with a smile and a pleasant tone. I pisses them off and will make your day.
