I confess to really fucking hating it when people tell me what *I* should do
to improve *their* experience.

I confess to composing several scathing replies (witty, every one) and then
deleting them.

I confess to not really regretting that.

Oh, and I'm very stinky right now.

I confess to slacking at work right now, even though I have a deadline.

I confess to hating a lot of opinions on these boards.

I confess that I'm addicted to message boards.

I confess to being no better than you, even though I think it.

I confess to seeing my girlfiends' sister's 'chonch'.

I confess that BM is really expensive in the long run.

I confess that my last confession wont stop me from returning next year.

Naw. Just stinky. No AC at work, it's 85 outside, we have no circulation at
all. I showered this morning and everything.

I confess that I'm going to bail out on work early for the second day in a
row and go drinking rather than sweat all over my keyboard.

I confess to swearing off beef and other cow parts. This is after hearing a rancher up here in Canada say that he would shoot and bury any cattle with BSE, rather than report to the proper authorities. This is because it would be too costly and disruptive to his business.

Well, fuck his day! This is my *food* you're talking about here, not some maufactured widget, it should not be a commodity.

As for those tasty, and darned cute, too, young lambs; they are still on the menu.

FYI,

Stu, you really don't have to worry about the meat part of the cow.
Honestly.

BSE's (bovine spongiform encephalopathy) transmission vector is through foods containing meat by-products such as scraps of brain and neural tissue. Steaks are cool. Hamburger is cool. Vienna sausages, certain types of scrapple (different in different regions), bologna (low end) not cool. But then, have they ever been?
Hamburger is cool
It is if it is free of bone particles. However, due to the way cattle carcasses are processed nowadays, there is some bone present.

It is the attitude that really bothers me. I've seen footage of people with vCJD, and it is truly awful. Some of the most disturbing images I have ever seen. If there is any chance of there being a risk, which people introduce when they flout proper inspection protocols, I'm not eating beef.

I confess to being quite irate about the industrialisation of the food suppy. Duh!

Something to be said for being vegetarian. I avoid beef and pork, and after hearing some of those 'glazed' chicken jokes, I sometimes wonder.

At least he is willing to take a major loss and take them out of the food supply by killing them himself. Cattle prices are hitting $1.20 a lb lately, times that by say....3000 lbs (that's being very conservative so each cow shot costs him $3600). That's a major loss especially when it never affects just one.

Back to the thread, I confess to having a crush on Precipitate's e-playa posts....
mostly interesting, sometimes harsh, but always very good.

I'm wary of highly-emotional imagery taking precedence over actual data in the decision making process. Yes, even one person with vCJD is scary. But a one in twenty-million chance of getting it is a statistical non-entity. I'm more distressed by the lack of believable numbers than by the vCJD TV stories. Heck, there's no end of horrible but telegenic ways to get sick and die.

Ultimately, most North Americans are going to die from over-eating and under-exercising. Statistically, nearly all of them.

BM is my secret cure for both problems. I stayed so busy at BRC this year that I lost 12 lbs, and after all that bike riding I'm staying at it and keep riding now that I'm home. (or working hard cleaning up and catching up on fixing things!) I'm also moving up the timetable for building next year's stuff...there are some things I can build without knowing about any theme so I'm getting busy. Under exercise with my list of projects shouldn't be a problem.

(You also learn you can live without Taco Bell for a week and that does wonders for the waistline! Same for having a bottle of Coke in your hand all the time! Piss Clear....it's good for you off the playa too!)

Feeling healthy can't be accomplished in one week per year. Humans need at least some cardiovascular activity several times per week to feel good. And actual good nutrition most of the time (as opposed to the occasional diet) is mandatory too.

BTW, if you really enjoy eating, getting lots of hard exercise lets you eat even more. Can't be junk food exclusively, though.

Nope. All carpenters are type 'A' personalities. They really couldn't be anything else.

For the record, my cousins are NOT these Carpenters:

Some things should be left in the past...that picture is one of them.

I worry about anyone who might have a pic like that just laying around ready to be added to a BBS thread.

Anybody else creeped out by those paper hippy flowers?

Kinetic

The flower he's holding is a little messed up in the center but otherwise they are pretty nice paper flowers. That's about the only thing I like in the whole pic.

Hippie.

Next you'll be converting a school bus. I predict that Jungo Road ends up with old school bus parts outnumbering the articles the Pioneers left along the Humbolt Sink.

Kinetic

Post by Kinetic » Fri Sep 19, 2003 10:41 pm

Guess what I'm shopping for? A mid-size school bus to convert. I need a kayak shuttle and a BM base camp as it looks like I'll be bringing a few more people with me for '04. The bus looks like the best choice when I look at this long term...if I get the KC Regional Coordinator position I'll be going to Flipside and I expect at least 3 more years of BRC trips.....so it would be worth it.

I will keep the Ranger but I want to get a little Civic or CRX to use for my commuter car and save the Ranger for hauling stuff around here or for bad weather....then use the shuttle bus for the trips. Long range fuel capacity, A/C, muffled generator mounting (apu), security, more excitement descending mountain passes, and the ability to take longer trips while being self-sufficient that I am limited on now.

No flowers will be painted on the bus though. Sorry.

And if you can take buses down the back country Ozark roads...Jungo is not much worse. I'll reinforce the bus to handle Jungo with ease.

I confess that I'm addicted to human breast milk. Nothing like a good milk drunk--it's the buzz we're all chasing.
