I was in STEP last year and I checked my email about ten times an hour!!
I came into tickets last year through friends and even though I'm sitting this year out I still have those friends and if I hear of available tickets that's the last person I'd hook up! Right now Lonesomebri would be first.

Y'know, one of the hardest discoveries as a Mod was that one of our Burner-style super powers* is that we can often spot socks (unless someone is really trying to hide it), and then keeping quiet about it. LF was so good as a shit-stirrer (yet harmless), and sometimes I just wanted to let the cat out of the bag.

*Burner-style super powers = you think you have them, but you don't

This is a good chance to repost the original disclaimer about this thread, way back in the first post, for newbies and the people who never read really long threads from the beginning (ie: everybody):

For those who've been around this (or any) internet community for any length of time, it can get a little frustrating to see new people coming in and posting or asking the same things over and over again, without having taken any time to do any reading or research first. What can often happen is that people will put up with those posts for as long as they can, and then they'll vent all that pent up frustration on the next person to post. Then others chime in to vent their frustrations, and things tend to get ugly fast. It's unfair for every 100th poster to have to take the heat of all those other people's posts, and it's unfair for people to have to keep all their frustrations and exasperations bottled up all the time.

For a while, people would hold themselves to the rule of waiting until page two before getting snarky... but it didn't take long before some folks started intentionally replying and posting in a thread to fill up a page so that it would finally reach page two and people would sometimes get mean-spirited.

In order to curtail the page two shenanigans and the unloading of pent-up frustration on ticket seekers and other new users... we have the page two thread. It's removed from the original discussion, and an appropriate place to do things like vent, get snarky, or keep score on the games people play or buzzwords people use in their ticket posts. For this year's scoring chart, please see this post. Have fun, but please avoid being mean-spirited. As per our Community Guidelines, personal attacks are unwelcome.

I don't even know how far back I'd have to go to find the origins of page two. I used to beat on people to not snark until there were actual helpful replies. It morphed into page two along the way. I bet someone with a sharer memory than mine would remember.

They don't care. Last year, folks with the Pyramid Lake Paiute Nation got free tickets to TTID if they signed up in advance.

The old Oasis #29 (Indian taco stand at mile marker 29) got hit by a truck, and they brought out the old Oasis #29 for the trarffic from Exodus. Burners were encouraged and still are to engage in commerce in Wadsworth and Nixon with the Paiutes. Please do so again this year.

They're just ok any other time of the year but they are the most delicious thing you'll ever eat after a week on the Playa.

They are amazing: a large plate of food that's filling and you can identify all items in it. the customer service is lovely too - when we stopped by last year, they had the whole family out at the patio and they were kind and warm. I like giving them money so I stop there every year.
