The first libertarian intellectual was Lao-tzu,
the founder of Taoism.
Little is known about his life,
but apparently he was a personal acquaintance of Confucius
in the late sixth century BC
and like the latter came from the state of Sung
and was descended from the lower aristocracy of the Yin dynasty.

Unlike the notable apologist for the rule of philosopher-bureaucrats,
however,
Lao-tzu developed a radical libertarian creed.
For Lao-tzu the individual and his happiness was the key unit
and goal of society.
If social institutions hampered the individual's flowering and his happiness,
then those institutions should be reduced
or abolished altogether.
To the individualist Lao-tzu, government, with its "laws and regulations
more numerous than the hairs of an ox,"
was a vicious oppressor of the individual,
and "more to be feared than fierce tigers."

Government, in sum, must be limited to the smallest possible minimum;
"inaction" was the proper function of government,
since only inaction can permit the individual to flourish
and achieve happiness.
Any intervention by government, Lao-tzu declared,
would be counterproductive, and would lead to confusion and turmoil.
After referring to the common experience of mankind with government,
Lao-tzu came to this incisive conclusion:
"The more artificial taboos and restrictions there are in the world,
the more the people are impoverishedâ€¦.
The more that laws and regulations are given prominence,
the more thieves and robbers there will be."

The wisest course, then, is to keep the government simple
and for it to take no action, for then the world "stabilizes itself."
As Lao-tzu put it,
"Therefore the Sage says:
I take no action yet the people transform themselves,
I favor quiescence and the people right themselves,
I take no action and the people enrich themselvesâ€¦."

Tao (pronounced 'Dao')
can be defined as 'path', or 'road'.
The way of the Tao is the way of Nature and of ultimate reality.
Tao is often described as a force that flows through all life.
A happy and virtuous life is one that is in harmony with the Tao,
with Nature.
So the philosophy of Taoism understands Tao as the One Thing
which exists and connects the Many things.
Tao, Nature, Reality are One.
The idea that 'All is One and interconnected' is not found
solely within Chinese Philosophy.
The ancient Indians and Greek Philosophers also understood
the universe as a unity,
as have many other philosophers and scientists over the past 2500 years.

As Leibniz profoundly says;

Reality cannot be found except in One single source,
because of the interconnection of all things with one another.
(Leibniz, 1670)

and we were'nt

Maybe I mistook what was happening on your end of
things, but all I can say is that from where I stood
then--I was utterly happy to be your wife. Our love,
trust, and kindness was BEAUTIFUL! I still love the
memory of you. It still brings up great joy and
softness, so I still believe and experience that the
love was real.

I'm very happy in my life now too but nothing will
ever erase my time with you. Maybe I was chasing
fairy tales, but thank you anyway. Utterly fabulous!
Such sweet dreams at least! You've at times, been the
conduit for a 'perfectly easy to love darling' in the
drama called my life. A.K.A. "a dream come true!"
LOL I just wanted to write and tell you how much
love I feel when I think of who I believe you are.
I'm so lucky that I get to use you as my excuse to
love. What an opportunity to be able to write my love
of you. I deeply appreciate you and the gift you were
to me at that time of life. I love to love you! It's
like I'm full and I miss you all at the same time.
Even if we're still at a place where it may not be
best to chat with each other--I just couldn't withold
from you the love that I feel bursting from my heart.

to rangada, who eyes them mysteriously.

it seems the great goddess of willendorf
had been quietly standing around when
suddenly the changing woman took an aggressive
posture towards ishtar, who had been busy
trying to persuade morrigan to pick another
................... hat.

Rhiannon found this all very fascinating, as
she had been musing on spider woman
precicely the moment before all this transpired.
