Hi gang!! looks like some excitement !! yay for gettting tickets.
Patsh: I'm sure you can get tickets and a VP, they're always floating around. It'd be like the "Holy Trinity" if you and Delle and Kenny all showed up at once!!!
Having all three of us back there together again would be a long-standing dream come true!
I know, if it's meant to be, tickets will come to us.
There will remain their plane fare from Quebec to Reno and back.

Please do the thing :coffee:
Oh my god, it's HUGE!

Looks like the quote thing that Yggy's been having trouble with is happening here, too.
Anyway, with each passing hour, it's looking a bit more likely to be able to happen.
Now, to talk Delle and Kenny into it! (that's where I'll need the luck)

Good to know!
Waiting for Delle to get home from work, and answer my text.
Then I can call her, and start begging...

If they can't go, I still probably can.
mgb327, have you met Delle and Kenny?

Well, fooey.
Dell and Kenny definitely can't make it to the Playa again...
This makes me so sad.

However, that won't keep me from doing my best to get there.
I'll be vibing a ticket and VP my way, and with Saguaro Man next week, I'll have the Playa in mind while dealing with my camping stuff. (Sag Man is our AZ regional, east of Tucson.) I'll be there from Wednesday to Sunday. Just went two weeks ago for another 3-night, 4-day campout with another Burner (Paydirt) and her Mom. Of course, it was absolutely awesome!

So, with all this in mind, I'll be here in da Bar more than I have been lately.
Can't wait to see all my ever-so-wonderful Playa friends again!! :D

Uh hello? You guys still here? I see a couple of familiar faces. Haven't been here in awhile. The place looks pretty spiffy.

I oh-so-cleverly waited until AFTER ticket sales to decide that, yep, I think I need to get meself out to TTITD again. Burn fever, there's no cure and there's no controlling it. It hits when it hits. It's my 20th burn-versary, 10 times over 20 years. Last time was 2017, year of the last eclipse. And here I am again, makin' plans.

Not sure who I'm going to camp with. Maybe Playa Choir? Trying to get onto a project for on-playa build. I LOVE pre-event playa. I need a ticket and a vehicle pass. But it's early yet, I'm thinkin' I can probably pull it together.

Not too many familiar faces here - Yggy, Elorrum, Lucky420. This BBS bidness is pretty old-school, I reckon it's for old folks like us.

OK, first things first.
Just came up with another copper pendant for this year.
Wheels are already turning for the whole process.
Design, all the copper, CNC, satin cord....
This all just happened in the last half hour.
And only two days ago, hadn't even thought about going this year.

Man, I love this universe.

HI swampdog! good to seeya!!!
Good for you, deciding to go! Best of luck with it all.
And yay Patsh! You can pull it all together! resourceful as you are.

and a tech note: I have "enable bbcode by default" checked on my settings, but, each time I hit "quote", the "disable bbcode" box is checked and I have to uncheck it. I don't find anywhere to fix this, or, am I just that dull of mind?....

Oh my! Swampdog! So wonderful you dropped in. Please stick around. I think of you when I’m at a loss for a dance move. I recall a suggestion to paint 🎨. Yes, I am feeling the pull as well, but none, or I should say not as much bitterness or worry as usual.

The renegade alternative is going to be somewhere in a dispersed arrangement on playa for Memorial Day, also the Friends of Black Rock Rendezvous event occurring same weekend. They bring Portos, which are worth a donation membership imho. It might be in my plans to reconnoiter and see how renegade actually plays.

Hi Elorrum.
so, is the "renegade" group, going to be separate from the "rendezvous group"? same time, different spot?
That could be interesting in that some years the playa still has some substantial wet areas at Memorial day. Yeah, let us know how that is? It seems they've been toying with the renegade concept for quite a few years, but never really get past that critical population to be a "thing". I'd imagine they're having fun, though, with the concept.

A group of strangers who gather for highjinks and shenanigans have to manage their trash, and not be dicks to each other. A near miracle, or “what I loved about burning man.” Their initial events on playa had problems with both of these. A few people were diligent in returning to clean up some more. I’d like to think they are fun burners mainly. Some photos show some nice installations. Of course, djs. um.

There seems to be at least one person managing an email list, and you have to answer an LNT and participation questionnaire to get the location of each event. There is something one hour from Reno on 5/4 weekend, so Star Wars nerds? If they aren’t leaving a mess and not hurting anyone, I do like that they are playing with the concept.

You’re right about Memorial Day, could be muddy still, for Rendezvous as well.

Hi gang! early Saturday.
I'm picking my daughter up from SFO at 6 a.m. tomorrow, which means I have to leave here at 2 a.m. so been getting up a little earlier every day for the last few, so I can go to bed earlier and get a little rest before the drive to the Bay Area, and traffic and who knows what else? Hoping no freeway shutdowns/protests...Hoping it's early enough and a Sunday that those people aren't up and around yet.
Elorrum: yeah, you hit the nail on the head " If they aren’t leaving a mess and not hurting anyone, I do like that they are playing with the concept."

it's sort of like Burning Man™ and many of it's inhabitants, have become "the establishment". Many, old and new "Burners", yearn for the counter culture/lack of rules/wild experiences of long ago. They are also many of the best innovators that made the event what it was.
As I recall, "The Hat" wrote that his vision was that the "main event" would be a temporary thing, and it'd all break up into smaller "regionals", and maintain the vibe only really possible with smaller numbers and more familiars.
Of course, it's also quite possible these are the ramblings of an old, jaded, cynical Burner...

Well, the avalanche of thoughts and planning are in full swing. In my mind, I'm already on the road, halfway through Nevada! There's no stopping me now!

Last year, burner von braun sent me some Animalia swag... a patch and a sticker. Turns out, the sticker made my best insulated cup which I seldom used because of the big green (SBx) logo, is now my very best cup, with a beautiful sticker over the logo. I rotated the pic to have it upright, but it won't copy that way. Oh well...
DSCF3458.JPG
I have been honored with an invitation to camp with Dye with Dignity, at 2:30 and C! I'll get to be with all the Cool Kids!! It'll be so nice to see dear friends again.

Wow, Patsh!! look at you go!! yay for you!
It'll probably be interesting to see what has changed since last you were there. If anything has changed, as far as the event and participants.
Do you still have that big high peak tent? I forget what it's called, but it was cool to see, inside and out.
I"m heading for the Hof today, going to plant some Sequoia trees I've been growing from starts. It seems they'll grow there, a planted two about 6 years ago and they are doing fine. I'd love to leave a grove of sequoias (mountain redwood) so that one day, someone will wonder.......I'm hoping to plant them in a circle or some such, but terrain may influence that. And water/drainage.

Sadly, the North Pole Shade bit the dust quite literally, some years ago. One of our AZ regionals (Saguaro Man) was so windy, it collapsed, breaking an upper steel (!) bar and tearing a few anchors at the base. When it collapsed, a bar went right through a plastic folding table! (Two layers of rigid plastic.) Pretty sure I could fix it (again) but camping alone, I don't really need it that much. Yet.

That sequoia circle would be a good spot for a tent!
Thinking of the amazing Hof parties... *le sigh*

I wish I had bought two when I got my nppss for $150 clearance. (North Pole Party Shade Shelter) There is an old thread here about them. I set mine up on playa this Memorial Day, and it is still ok. The breeze there and very little dust, actually cleaned it up a bit.

Cool on your sequoias, ygmir. I think they will do well in proximity in a good network of connecting fungi. Our friend Foxfur is studying the healing properties of fungi in clear cut diseased tree stands.
Perhaps there are some helping agents you could plant along with your little ones.

Today I engaged in a few emails with “doing it wrong” at the main site. If I were drinking and you asked what I was drinking over today, this would be it. A local nonprofit maker space art entity is holding a cocktails and dinner event (they don’t say if it is a fundraiser for what or for who) by putting on a “Playa Art Preview” party, with early “VIP access” at twice the regular ticket price to “meet world renowned artists” and “take photos.”
”On second thought, Let’s not go to Camelot. It’s a silly place.”
Roll on through, Tumbleweed.
