I saw the bugs as I was packing my tent at Myschievia which is held outside of Dallas. They were really neat.

Yes, a duck on the playa. It flew into my camp area in 2007. Waddled around quacking for a while and then flew off.

Actually, a duck is not particularly surprising. Think of how many miles they fly back and forth during migrations. I don't know what brings some of them down to the playa, but there's a fighting chance that they can get to someplace better if it's not due to sickness or injury.
Useless factoid: Flamingos feed and breed on seasonal alkalai lakes. I don't know why Nevada's don't attract them (too cold? too far from Florida and South America?) but I think the basics are the same.

I can't recall ever hearing a chick admit to liking whitey-tighties. Boxers or boxer briefs are good, depending on his fitness. In what region have you found they like fruit-o-the-looms?

You're only respondent number 3, but so far all are from the east coast and prefer boxers.

On a personal note, I don't like boxers because I find them too bulky under pants. Would probably be OK under my kilt, but...
