Re: ePlaya Fitness Club
Hot Yoga sounds kind of like a couple win/wins.
I just started jogging again and hopefully I can soak some up some of this humid heat to make hot and arid easier to acclimate with. I ride bicycle as my transport and such. Much like jogging and yoga, it's great for stress relief as well as fitness and stamina.
I use a push-up app, which is hard but I like it. Every year of the past four, I get half way to target and some injury or another keeps me from them for a few weeks and then I lose any progress I make. Guess it's just not meant to be.

Re: ePlaya Fitness Club
I hear ya AntiM, but for me it's the anti depressants. I don't eat much, but struggle to even stay the same weight.
That said. Just read Fossa's posts, and what he says makes so much sense! Today I was freaking starving all day. I rarely eat right after I get up, and then it's usually just yogurt. Not bad for protein, but then won't eat again until late. And I wonder why I have the energy level of a dead slug?! I have found that if I keep nuts to snack on, they will give me a boost and stave off the 'I'm so hungry I'm going to collapse' feeling. The salt isn't good for me unless I'm on the playa. But salty nuts are soooo good!
Almost bought a used treadmill before the 4th of July weekend. Maybe I'll see if she still has it....

I eat nuts almost daily. I even have cute little nut cups so I can portion them out. Yum, nuts.

Nut cups?

I started seeing a personal trainer about two months ago, and I definitely feel better, though I'm not seeing much difference. Also just added a morning bike ride to toughen up my crotch for the playa. That first week of bike riding hurts like hell.

Just goes to show, alot of the time, doctors don't know what they're saying.
When I met my husband, his doctor's prognosis gave him less than a month to live.
Two years later, we got married and bought a house.
He lasted 9-1/2 years past his prognosis...

Re: ePlaya Fitness Club
I suppose I ought to check in.
Four weeks to go! I'm now stable around 190 pounds, after many months stuck around 205. Last year I made it down to 185 for the burn, and I can do that again! (And this time I'm not going to start stuffing myself in September! That is a fact, now that I finally am gaining control of my unruly mind.)
Update on the chin-up bar: You may recall I installed a chin-up bar in the stairwell in the barn. Whenever I come down the stairs without carrying anything, I use it, if only briefly. It works! My arms are definitely stronger now. And this is happening with zero effort -- in the sense that I do not have to decide to exercise; it has become a normal part of walking down the stairs.

that chin up bar is a great idea Elliot! I'm feeling weak as a kitten these days.
I'm just got under 260...from 285 in Jan. still hoping to head down to 240 . Seems the weight is coming off slower now.

I rode my bicycle more than target goal of 300 miles last week, the only thing I worked on was my tan.

Re: ePlaya Fitness Club
Major wake-up call on Playa this year: We happened to have two 19-year-olds join us, and even with my steady improvement in fitness I looked pathetic by comparison. (Of course, I also looked male, and the 19-year-olds looked female. But that's a different discussion.)
So I am going after the last 15 or so pounds with a vengeance, starting now.
It is worth mentioning that the above-mentioned comparison was made with both parties nude, involving scrubbing each others' backs while showering. This method of comparison is highly recommended. Steps will be taken to ensure this method will be widely employed next year. All in the name of fitness!

Re: ePlaya Fitness Club
I have to say I am proud I made it to the pool all week. The pool had been closed for the last two weeks for the annual maintenance. It was really hard getting up at 5 am that first morning. I am usually up at 5 most mornings, but knowing I had to go to the pool just made it that much harder.
I kept telling myself I would get on the bike while the pool was closed. Never happened. Now I just need to try and get on the bike the days I don’t have water aerobics. (Yea like that is going to happen)

I'm happy to report that after losing ~30lbs since last year's burn, and gaining a lot of muscle, I felt 1000x better on-playa this year. I climbed more, danced longer, biked through the piles flour that was this year's playa, slept better, and felt cooler.
Thanks Fossa, for all your tips!

Yeah, apparently not having facial hair (let alone body hair) makes your gender pretty ambiguous around these parts. XD

Doing reverse elimination diet. Dropped HFCS, hydrogenated veg oil (all fried foods) first week. 2nd week dropped sugar, artificial sweeteners and (whew!) polyunsaturated oils. Stopped using microwave as it kills live enzymes. Working on replacing all Cooking stuff that's plastic w glass, metal, wood or cloth.
Next up: dairy and wheat.
Damn this is gonna be fun.
