Walt, one of my long-time drillers who retired in 2000 is dead. He died while I was at the burn.

Numbness doesn't even begin to describe the loss. Walt was a dependable go-to guy who ran a tracked rig like it was a part of him. Once, while a water truck was parked on the shoulder of US 65 north of Branson we set up a system to pump water vertically to a drill on top of a road cut 60 feet above us using the drill rig's pump and a 3" water line pump in tandem. Walt didn't think it could be done, but his attitude was infectious. "Well, we got to try otherwise we won't know for sure" was what he said. When our little scheme worked and did the job, he said "Damn, that's good. Gonna have to remember how to do that on the next job we need it."

He always had space in his toolbox. Not surprising, since Walt was famous for the 'hobo fit', where this bearded character would throw pipe wrenches, short drill rods, auger segments, and such just to "get it out of my system'. Fiercely protective and loyal, he was the kind of guy who would have your back at any time it was needed.

the good news - I am now a grandpa. Baby boy named Alexander. 9 lbs 2 oz and 23 & 1/2 in. at birth. Lots of black hair and cute as hell.

The bad news - he has a fucking infection in his lungs and sometimes has trouble breathing. Mostly when he nursing. Initially it was thought that he was just not coordinating his breathing and sucking, but it is an infection.

DarkAngel and I wuld appreciate all the good vibes we can get for Little Alexander. They have him on antibiotics and will be keeping him here at the hospital.

FUCK. My little Chihuahua Missy is sleeping forever now. I saw her laying in the sun on the lawn. I called, but she did not move. I picked her up, limp as a noodle. I have no clue of the cause, wishing she is playing with God in Heaven. I am so fucking sad, I took my medicine. Just me and Hunter now. I have not seen Darleen in 2 weeks, she goes into surgery tomorrow. I just feel so lonely.

Almost erased this post, but I will send it anyway. My problems are miniscule compared to the town of Weed up by the Oregon border.
