I took motorhome caravan tours to Mexico for 10 years. Everybody stocked up on canned food before they left. Once they got to Mexico and found that there were stores and restaurants, they ditched the cans. We always directed them to the orphanages. I'm not a big fan of canned food.
Right now, the scary thing about the economy is that GOV isn't able to fix anything. GOV is using Keynesian economics to get us out of a problem caused by Keynesian economics. The first bailouts didn't work at all. So,,,, lets have more and bigger bailouts.
Did anyone notice that GOV does not have a plan B.
In our wonderful fascist country, the money powers control GOV. GOV is only working to save the financial economy. They're completely ignoring the producing economy. Jobs aren't even on the radar. 135,000 jobs a week reported lost. The dumb fucks seem to think that the financial economy can get along just fine without a producing economy.
GOV / Banking is so fucking stupid that they're working overtime to create "money". They make no effort at all to create wealth. They plan to borrow $ trillions and spend their way out of this mess.
The IMF is close to broke. The FDIC is close to broke. There is even a question if the FED can continue to cough up trillions. The wealth of all these entities is tied up in bonds. Bonds aren't doing so well. The FED also runs a BIG risk. If they cough up billions, There is always the risk that our Dem pres will declare force majeure and tell the FED to take a hike. Now THAT would make a big splash.
US gov is making a big effort to get people to spend again. The stupid shits think that they can do a turnaround in the national mood when <600000> jobs are lost every month. It would be comical if it were on another planet.

"About 20 million of the total estimated 130 million migrant workers, whose cheap labor underpins China’s manufacturing sector, have been forced to return to rural areas because of a lack of work,"
http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot. ... entum.html
It's very simple; when the industrial economy fails, people have to return to the agrarian economy. It will happen worldwide. I'm just trying to beat the rush.
Last sunday, I picked up my Farmall 560 tractor.

I don't know as it is any particular brand of economics which is to blame-- I think it is an entrenched and out of touch ruling class and/or elite wealthy class. (Somewhat heavier on the Republican side, but that is probably due to there having been in power more often, and been traditionally pro-wealthy since FDR... and there are plenty of Democrats who seem to think they are Republicans.)
I'd rather like to get one of those "EarthShip" homes. Too bad land around here is STILL really expensive (and I tend to not trust those radio ads for outfits which will help you cash in on someone else's failed mortgage!)
Well, back to trying to figure out how in the H--- I am supposed to electronically file if I have no clue what my PIN or AGI from last year was!

It isn't so much the wealthy that need to be taxed. It is the group of people and corporations that go around gutting countries;
http://solari.com/blog/?p=2058
The problems coming our way are the worst that the modern world has seen;
"If we can use the Baltic Dry Index (BDI) as a guide for the next 12 months of product delivery and food availability in the stores we shop in then the BDI says shelves will be virtually empty of almost every product we use each and every day. "
http://www.rense.com/general85/des.htm
Years ago, corporations paid 1/3 of the tax burden. In the true fascist style, Business was allowed to write new tax code. Corporations now pay 3 % of the tax burden.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2009 ... -avoidance
A big part of the problem is that corporations use much of their profits to invest in financial instruments. This money would serve all of us much better if it went back into the producing economy. As more profits are produced, the economy gets poorer;
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree ... tax-havens
So much of the proceeds of our work have been plowed into financial instruments that there isn't enough left to run the economy. Petrov thinks that it is going to get very bad;
http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php? ... leId=12121
Reportedly, there are $ 1.4 quadrillion in derivatives that are going to fail. Our GDP is only $ 50 trillion worldwide. There is no way that all of this malinvestment is going to work out smoothly;
Plant a garden.

Well, if you don't like PP, how about S&P?
" The credit crunch may only be in its early stages and a bigger contraction in lending in coming months could have "serious implications" for the U.S. economy, Standard & Poor's Rating Services said Friday. "
http://www.marketwatch.com/News/Story/S ... 5C5A0986F9}
Standard and Poor is supposed to know what's going on with all big business. When they say "bigger contraction" and "serious implications" , I feel certain that pessimism is warranted. The people who predicted this all along are equally pessimistic; Rogers, Roubini, Celente, Mises, Chapman et al.
The British exchequer? says that this is going to play out badly for 15 years. Obama wants to cut the deficit by 50 %. What do you think that will do to the economy. He wants to pay off half of a combined debt of at least $ 37 trillion in 4 years. Our GDP is $ 14 trillion in a good year. How are we going to pay back $ 9 trillion a year?
Look at the decline rate on these graphs. http://www.financialsense.com/Market/ba ... /0217.html
The reason that I posted that link is because I forgot to mention stashing booze for survival.

Your very welcome
The job loss here is about 160,000 a week. There is so little hiring going on that people need to be very aware before they chuck a job. Worldwide unemployment is expected to hit 50 million next year. After reading the projections of S&P, I believe that it will get much worse. Since so many investments are disappearing, a lot of trustifarians and retirees will be looking for a job.
The people with some kind of employment will be able to survive if they can reduce their overhead. The rest will have to go to the camps to keep warm and fed. They didn't build those camps just to make Haliburton rich. They didn't build the largest camp of all up in Alaska because of an expected influx of Mexican immigrants.... at the southern border.
The "buzz" seems to indicate that the coming week will be very lively.
