Actually, this isn't news to me. The other two articles I've read on this (one current and one a couple of years back) mention that african americans don't feel connected with national parks and the outdoors and expressed hopes that adding this information to history lessons would help them connect to the great outdoors. (And what I've read about "maroons" in central and south america, as well as the american south, absolutely shows resistance to slavery and racism by africans brought to the new world unwillingly, intimately tangled with living outside cities.) I think it might have some reference to that question that we haven't had to have a stupid argument in a couple of years about why African Americans don't go to burningman. (To over-simplify an already too simple argument.)

Could it be they are smarted than the average burner?? Spend a shit load of money.. To beat your car over miles of hot desert roads.. Go out in the middle of nowhere and roll in the dirt when someone rings a bell.. Put your life at risk in so many ways it can't be counted.... Should I go on or do you get the picture?
