first of all .... no system works for everybody, as Yg pointed out.cowboyangel wrote:

what i want to see is jobs ....... but right now we have a president who is perceived to be anti-business ... a new healthcare mandate that will almost certainly create unforeseen expenses .... banks in still in turmoil, with tight credit .... government spending and debt that are out of control .... and still a great deal of uncertainty. businesses are in protection mode, which is why we're seeing big profits. i don't think most people have any idea how expensive it is to hire people! blame it on bush all you want, but obama has been in office for 3 years and things aren't much better....
and yes, JK, i know you think i am totally wrong about all of this! don't bother with your tirade.

So what? You take a position based on the information you have. There's nothing wrong with changing or modifying that position should additional information ever present itself to warrant the change. But for goodness sake, take a stand.
ygmir wrote:I understand. it's just different ways of looking at it. I accept, though disagree.cowboyangel wrote:I think it was cool to see the meditators at Occupy Oakland. I believe and some studies show, that they do in fact lower the stress threshold in tense situations.ygmir wrote:
contrast that video, including the organized prayer part, with OWS.
In this clip, I see no thai chi, yoga, Starbucks or hand holding......I don't see tents, or JOTS.
I see chaos, and mayhem........
And, this is the point, I was making earlier, with my "hippie" statement, about "some" in the OWS crowd, and appearances. Appearances, are powerful.
"some studies" can prove any point you'll ever want to make........
@JK:
yeah, see, when I think something is clear cut, I do take a stand on it. But, so often, these issues are not "cut and dried" enough, IMHO, to be able to "carve them in stone"..........
If political issues, were only as simple, as carving granite......sigh............
How many times in my life, have I take a "solid" position, on a matter such as OWS, only to find, said position changed, or even reversed, after more information and reflection, are garnered?
Well, a lot of times.
This, has led me to a more fluid sense of "reality", and especially as relates to humans and political/social issues.
So yeah, it's tough for me to dig a hole and fight from there.
"flip flopping"? well perhaps. But I'd also like to think, I'm open to information, and, willing to change as circumstance dictate.
you, personally, have led to changes in my attitudes about some things. And, I thank you, for that.

well, here, for instance, I think I've taken a stand.jkisha wrote:So what? You take a position based on the information you have. I've stated I support the concept of OWS.
Yes, I have pointed out, the things I don't like within.
and, I've also heralded the things I like.
I don't see that, as not taking a stand.
I see commentary, on the perceived positives and negatives, as a way to clarify my thoughts, and, if necessary, modify my position.
I don't blindly accept, trust, or follow, anyone, or any idea. And, I do find in all things, "grey/gray (?) areas".
How much more of a "stand" could one take, and be intellectually honest?
To me, marching in lock step, without question, and to claim total agreement, with an issue or movement as complex as this, is lazy. Anyone who thinks deeply about it, has to raise questions, and have some disagreement with positions or actions.
If not, I'd submit said follower is far to myopic, to have a substantive discussion.

Goldman Sachs and much of Wall St contributed more to Obama than McCain....so much for your idea that Bama isn't business friendly...and have you bothered to ask yourself why that happened???? duhhhhh.....oh yeah he's still for off shore oil exploration and extraction, new nuke plant construction and he would have ok'd Keystone-Excell if it weren't for the swarms of protestors. He's a republican in dem clothing and yes he's as much of the problem as Bush was.
"government spending and debt that are out of control" - pure bullshit unless you're referring to the insane defense budget and tax breaks to corporations, especially mining and oil.
"businesses are in protection mode, which is why we're seeing big profit" - another bullshit notion. The banks are making more money because they're speculating on currency, doing derivative trades and such...that is where they're making money right now and the bastard fuckers know it. They lobbied like rabid lunatics to diminish any kind of meaningful regulation on THIER OUT OF CONTROL SPENDING and they got what they wanted because the president lacks balls and because he gets beuxcoup buckoos from these devils. They don't make jack loaning to business especially small business. Banks are our enemies. You're living in La La Land if you think otherwise.

Re: OCCUPYWALLSTREET REINFORCEMENTS!
The ostrich
We'll call you when you're six years old
And send you to the factory
To train your brain for eighteen years
With promise of security
But then you're free
And forty years you waste to chase the dollar sign
So you may die in Florida
At the pleasant age of sixty-nine.
The water's getting hard to drink
We've mangled up the country side
The air will choke you when you breathe
We're all committing suicide
But it's alright
It's progress folk keep pushin' till your body rots
Will strip the earth of all it's green
And then divide it into parking lots.
But there's nothing you and I can do
You and I are only two
What's right and wrong is hard to say
Forget about it for today
We'll stick our heads into the sand
Just pretend that all is grand
Then hope that everything turns out OK.
You're free to speak your mind my friend
As long as you agree with me
Don't criticize the father land
Or those who shape your destiny
'Cause if you do
You'll lose your job your mind and all the friends you knew
We'll send out all our boys in blue
They'll find a way to silence you.
But there's nothing you and I can do
You and I are only two
What's right and wrong is hard to say
Forget about it for today
We'll stick our heads into the sand
Just pretend that all is grand
Then hope that everything turns out OK.

During the Egyptian revolution, Mobile Operators: Vodafone Egypt (largest network), Mobinil and Etisalat cut off all mobile phones in Egypt. This meant that many protesters and elderly people died because they couldn't call for help. After revolution, Vodafone claimed it sparked the revolution by its "inspirational" Ads.

Re: OCCUPYWALLSTREET REINFORCEMENTS!
RT actually has some decent stories and it publishes news that you'd never find on the US mainstream...now what's so bad about that?...like the above Hemminger interview...Hemminger makes a point of saying that Obama is "out of touch" with working people and their needs....is he wrong? He also asserts that street protests in the US may get violent and that martial law may be around the corner...is that too far off the mark? I don't think so.Simon of the Playa wrote:sola gangsta, posting ANYTHING from RT aka RUSSIAN TELEVISION as a NEWS SOURCE immediately destroys your credibility, what little you have left that is.

Re: OCCUPYWALLSTREET REINFORCEMENTS!
Walsh is a big asshole, I don't know how he ever got elected. Not to mention, he owes his ex wife over $100,000.00 in unpaid child support, yet one of his biggest talking points is how he won't leave the country's debt to his children. Maybe he should worry more about taking care of his kids in the present before he starts worrying about their futures.

I picked my sisters up from the Kent State Campus when this happened. I was recently back from the war and being on that campus at that time was surreal for so many reasons.
