Look at you all, doing happy shit and stuff. Always such a pleasure to see.

I was planning on something a bit more theme oriented: Image

but no one broke down at the Belmont Stakes, so that source fell through.

So it was either this or just cook hot dogs and hamburgers.

Technically, it wasn't "soup"...

As for today's Happy Shit and Stuff, I'll head toward the Hof this evening, and take my time driving. There's a cool rest stop (with trees for shade) north of Vegas, and another west of Reno. My car can be comfortable enough to sleep in when I'm tired enough. Can't wait to see all the Cool Kids!!!

Meanwhile, more "soup"... :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

Cool picture, Yggy, but around here, that looks like an advertisement for the Terminix man. They've gone from the 'bug on the truck' to the 'bug driving the truck' in that pic.

slivovitz I include in the 'Rhino Top 10 preferred"

In no particular order:

1.Evan Williams egg nog - had this at the burn last year.....a full fifth gone in 30 minutes one shot glass at a time with multiple burners taking part.

2. El Presidente tequila - had this in Tucson - VERY expensive - $14.00/shot. I had ONE shot. The first place I felt it was in my TOES.

3. slivovitz- homemade

4. bacon bloody marys - Bakon vodka, bacon tomato juice, bacon hot sauce, and a swizzle stick of.......bacon.

5. a solid, absolutely great Manhattan cocktail. I make it myself, and then: this year, I'm walking over to the 3:00 plaza a la Leonard Cohen.......

6. Don Julio tequila

7. Corallejo tequila

8. Sauza Hornitos tequila

9. George Dickel Tennessee whiskey

and last, but never least, 10. Jack Daniels Tennessee whiskey

And, as we demonstrated at last year's meet and greet, I DO make a pretty decent chocolate martini, though it's not what the judges expected.

Good to hear you're ticketed, Jella and Figment.

Hi all of you. Had a bit of a health issue over the past weekend and regretfully need to cancel my trip to the Hof. Really bummed about that as it is always a really great gathering and so many of you will be there. Lots of pictures please. I'll be there in spirit, thinking about you all! Sitting around that great fire pit telling stories and looking at the stars.

Enjoy life, it's the only one you're gonna get!

Sorry to hear that you need to skip the Hof gathering Marty, I'm sure you were looking forward to it. One of these times I hope to make it out there as well. Meanwhile, take good care of yourself my friend, and we'll see ya in the desert.

Mornin All! :D

Little smokey this early 4:00am hour. A 17,000+ acre fire about 40 miles south near Markleyville, CA. Probable triple digit temps until at least Sunday. Good combination.
The fire was started lightning. Another nice area up in smoke.

Wishing you the best MM.

:D
*comes sashaying thru Bar with breakfast in one hand, wrenches in the other, grease on nose....*

Will be traveling this weekend, but not to Hof. Instead, Kinetic Sculpture Race in Klamath Falls, Oregon. They insist on having it same weekend as Hof Ting.

The Racing Sculpture is ready, but I'm still working on Millicent (the bus). She is getting a new foot feed -- accelerator pedal, to normal folks. Original pedal was awkwardly hinged, and connected to the engine with a five-or-six-foot-long cable that runs in a veritable knot, ending up 18 inches from where it started. And that cable is worn out. So I'm installing a "more normal" type of pedal, and fabricating a more direct linkage. Very confined space, though, and the link will have something like four bends in it. So having fun being creative with that.

Leaving this afternoon, back... uh... Monday or Tuesday.

Hey... just happened to think of... what with this weekend's event, which I missed last year... I'm celebrating one year since hospital and eradication of "gremlins". Three cheers for medical science!

On that note; get well soon, MagicMarty!

*gulps remaining breakfast, "rinses" with sip of Bourbon saved from last year's Burn, goes out in front yard to resume cutting and welding on Millicent. comes back in, puts pants on, goes back out*

Well some I guess sad news.

I won't be coming back in 2016 (or this year.)

All my burning man gear was stolen and I have no hopes of ever seeing it again......

I'm doing mother fuckin RAGBRAI next year!! Due to this amazing weightloss journey I am on and some good friends I have taken up road cycling. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, RAGBRAI is a 450+ mile bike ride across Iowa in 7 days. 10,000+ people. It basically a big party all week.

My training for next years ride starts next week.

So ya, I have switched gears, and set my sites on something I would have never done while I was at my old weight of 303. Hoping with this I will be down to 200 in the next two months.
maladroit- Burning Man is like a second job, except you pay to work there.
Burning Man is just the pre party for exodus! - fellow burner during exodus
