hey, if i made it from hillsboro to SE you could have made it to public transport to downtown. they were running on snow routes. hell, you live near the maz!

i was just leaving hillsboro when i heard that 84 was requiring chains. it's a bitch to get to 205 without using 84 when you don't know your way around town. i really wished i had a compass at some point.

If I would have known the MAZ was running I would not have tried making it to the MAX station. ;)

Next time I will try less excuses and get my ass out to see ya.

Heli: CRAP! ....mumble, grumble... shit... must be nice...

Jason: Haven't you ever ridden the MAZ? It mainly goes on backstreets and under the river... oh, and up some sewer lines... it's a hell of a lot cheeper than the MAX, and a lot more fun...

Gigglesnort: I was going to say, "Hey, everyone likes a little head" but I won't...

Damn I just read this story on the local news site.

I hope all of ya in Minnesota keep warm...and here I am complaining about freezing rain...

Minnesota Town Hits 54 Below Zero

Temperatures plummeted across the eastern half of the nation Monday, approaching an all-time record in northern Minnesota and freezing the Gulf Coast as a river of Arctic air pushed southward.

Thermometers registered a low of 54 degrees below zero at Embarrass, Minn.

"You keep living, but it gets old after a while," said Christine Mackai, the town clerk for the community of about 1,400 people in northeast Minnesota.

Minnesota's record is 60 below, set on Feb. 2, 1996, in Tower, about 10 miles north of Embarrass.

The cold at Embarrass didn't stop the regular customers from getting their morning coffee at Four Corners, a cafe and gas station.

"Everybody left their cars running," waitress Trish Roggenbuck said. "It was pretty much breathtaking when you walked outside."

I grew up in AZ so I am beginning to love seeing 4 seasons. There are technically 5 seasons in AZ but not well defined like the typical seasons.

I used to know the desert seasons. I was actually looking into becoming a ranger for many years but I never followed through. I almost feel now id the time I should pursue it. Who knows.

Ridgecrest/China Lake (other side of Death Valley) is high desert. We had five seasons too. Starting to get fucking hot, fucking hot, still fucking hot, starting to not be hot, hellaciously windy and cold.

I've done it before (even though I gave up hunting after Vietnam: knew what the deer felt like) and it's just something that you have to do. I've also cured the skin and made stuff with it... If it wasn't for the fact that the deer has to die, I wouldn't mind it...

I go around with the whole death issue. I can stomach (ha) the deer easier than I can a factory-farmed cow or chicken. We all die, after all, even all the little vegetables; it's the quality of life/death that seems important to me.

I don't eat much meat myself, all that being said.
