Darn. I came across one which looks even more fun, but it is a promotional video for a product. (Someone else had my idea of a pedal powered lighter than air craft, and actually had the resources to develop it!

I think it's fine to post a commercial on here, as long as you're not doing it to advertise for profit. Recommendations and "oh look that's cool" type commercial products are all over this page. If it's something you sell, maybe don't post, but if not, I want to see the flying device. At least in a PM.

Yeah. My first thought when I saw those was "They'd be GREAT for Burning Man!" It'd take someone with a pretty big disposable income-- IIRC they cost about as much as a small car!

I asked them to send me information anyway. Maybe I will strike it rich or something... (or find the money for some sort of franchise. Being between jobs, maybe I should look into it...? Doing something with lighter than air stuff would be fun...

Naw, they use helium, and getting a permit for fusing hydrogen into helium is a bit difficult.

But in case you didn't know, there are slightly less complex ways of getting your hands on some helium. I know, I know, what's the point if you're not making a fusion reactor... Just an oddball idea.

I've heard that there is quite a bit of helium on the Sun, but, man, the travel time involved in going there and back!

I saw sumpin like that on the playa last year - at night, a girl with a climbing harness attached to some huge helium balloons like 50 feet up, with lights on them. Her harness was also hooked up to the rear bumper of an art car, but was just weightless enough to be able to bounce along in huge strides with her feet. You could see her mind was blown.
