Or what was it before? Going out into the hot desert with a riot-sized group of drunk naked people playing with fire just might qualify as something that should be explored as a possible bad-idea.

But I do get the impression on-playa that the diversity increases somewhat as the hot baking sun goes down. So I think we're also seeing the classic "Mad dogs and Englishman" in play.

My cousin Roger won't go.
He laughs about the stereotype and loves the idea of going, but says he's not camping out there.
He's crazier than most of you guys.

Sent by Michael Hastings before his death ===

Hey _________ - the Feds are interviewing my "close friends and associates."
Perhaps if the authorities arrive "BuzzFeed GQ", er HQ, may be wise to immediately request legal counsel before any conversations or interviews about our news-gathering practices or related journalism issues.

Also: I'm onto a big story, and need to go off the radat (sic) for a bit.

All the best, and hope to see you all soon.

On 60 minutes tonight prosecuting criminal prosecutors for their crimes.
They have civil immunity for crimes unlike police, etc
We can change that.

(From early 2012, but interesting.)

CCTV camera operator radioed plain-clothed foot-patrol officer that there was someone “acting suspiciously” in the area. As the officer rushed to the scene, the operator changed from camera to camera to track the suspect darting around the streets, directing the officer after the suspect.

This is what a milder home robbery looks like.
She was extremely lucky that he was a kinder robber than most.

What was interesting about the Texas vote, was their having a vote after the deadline anyway, trying to declare they had it in time, and that the bill passed and they made a press release to that effect. The press in U.K. even reported the bill as passed (I saw their reports online).
Only the actual date of their vote (past midnight, into the next day) was posted on their web site and people started asking questions about the release. Then they edited the web site to match their release. Then reportedly around 3:00 a.m. a new release said that the vote didn't meet the deadline.

In other news, someone told me about two undercover officers, from different forces, trying to arrest each other. Seems they found each other while one was undercover selling drugs and the other was undercover buying drugs...

Seems normal for texas.
They fought for many years for the principle of executing people that lacked adequate defense.
Sleeping or drunk attorneys in particular.

Undercovers must do that all the time.

Bobby Blue Bland's funeral started at noon down the street.
Probably quite amazing, with the people that will be there.

The long procession went down Beale street on the way.
Musicians here know how to do a funeral.
I didn't have time to go, but I know there was a full house band there and you can be sure no unknown musicians.
BB King was there and the Memphis Horns, but I'm not sure who else.
Probably half the crowd would be in music.
So sad to keep losing these greats.

Birdwatchers rush to Isles of Harris to see rare White-throated Needletail (eight U.K. spottings in ~170 years).
Dozens arrived in time to watch it fly into a wind turbine.
