Philip Morris and RJ Reynolds lawyers might want to share some perspective and advice with their oil extracting kin.

The Daily Beast isn't the greatest source, but this article is accurate:

(Fossil fuel bubble is 5x the 2008 mortgage bubble)

It is only accurate if one assumes that Trump or anyone is actually taking this "carbon bubble" idea seriously in the first place or, more importantly, will treat this "internationally agreed threshold" of 2C as a red line.

Trump and others could easily ignore this claim and keep on pumping. While this could ultimately end up as the typical "privatize the gains, socialize the losses" this is more a case of "boiling a frog" rather than inflating a bubble.

There will only be a bubble for the oil industry if the demand for oil bottoms out or supply dwindles and kills the market. It will be a long time before we see fossil fuel demand drop off, naturally or artificially. According to Barclays demand is not slated to peak before 2040.

The only "bubble" that may be on the horizon may be on the supply side, but as that approaches the oil industry will actually benefit as prices soar. Conversely, the only thing that has been impacting the oil industry now is oversupply due to increased production, not dwindling demand.

This "carbon bubble" idea is nowhere in any of these equations because there is no binding legislation enforcing limits on fossil fuel usage worldwide. Until this happens, speculation on bubbles or whatnot of this kind resulting from non-binding limits is just nonsense.

"SANDERS: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Ms. DeVos, there is a growing fear in this country that we are moving toward what someone call an oligarchic form of society, where a small number of very wealthy billionaires control our economic and political life.

Would you be so kind as to tell us how much your family has contributed to the Republican Party over the years?

DEVOS: Senator, first of all, thank you for that question. I was pleased to meet you in your office last week. I wish you I could give you that number.

SANDERS: I have heard the number was $200 million. Does that sound in the ballpark?

DEVOS: Collectively over my entire family, that is possible."

Unfortunately, that's not a new concept, but you knew that. However, that is the biggest part of the problem with our political system.

which are not mutually exclusive.......my point being, it's a sad truth that has been in place for a long time. It's not always because they'd be good, or even known......the check buys the job, the job creates the wealth.
