The woman was on C-SPAN and it was a real research project.
after re reading the link I understand what the laugh is about. Let me see if I can find it on C-SPAN and get back to you.
Hope I find the actual video footage.
It is real though despite what the link says.

yeah, like that dumb ass one where the litle girl had her lower intestines sucked out of her back in a public pool due to aknowledged manufacturer negligence and as a result will spend the rest of her life eating from a tube and toting a colostomy bag. Fuck that girl anyway.

FELINE CALICIVIRUS (FCV) FCV is a common viral upper-respiratory infection. It is widespread and can account for over 40% of all feline respiratory infections. Symptoms include fever, respiratory difficulty due to pneumonia and ulcers and blisters in the mouth and on the tongue. Treatment involves fluid and nutritional support and the use of antibiotics to prevent secondary infection. With good care most cats survive.

Day four of this fucked up sickness. He's getting better, and eating a little. Reeeealy wants to go outside when awake, but spends most of his time in my clothes closet sleeping.
He's a fucking good kitty.

Geekster, people do sue here in Canada, we're just not as keen on it as people in the US tend to be.
All I want is to live in my own little cute house. It's not even big and fancy. I'm a good business person, I employ people, I buy locally...I just want my own house! Is that too fucking much to ask?! Apparently!!!

I would never be against suing for true negligence. Fuck that. Hell, bring CRIMINAL charges. Someone should go to prison for that one if the manufacturer KNEW it and was fucking negligent. I never said ALL lawsuits were stupid but man, we sure have a lot of them in this country. Hell, we have lawyers that advertize ... Got Injured ... I can get you MONEY. Its a racket. You know ... life is terminal. So you are they going to sue for THAT. Seriously. The doctor drops the malpractice insurance and can suddenly offer medical care at a reasonable price. If he is negligent, bring criminal charges. In criminal court you actually have to PROVE something.stuart wrote:DUMBASS FUCKING medical lawsuits

I am talking about ... my 18 year old kid failed the entrance exam to Yale so I am going to sue the birth doctor for oxygen deprivation. Fucking crap like that. I am just talking about Litigation Lotto.
Whatever, something has to change and government owning medical care isnt it. We would be in a situation like the UK or Canada where their citizens come HERE and pay out of their own pocket for procedures that their government either wont approve or has a waiting list so long it would be too late. The LAST thing I want is the government deciding who lives and who dies. Hmmm, we saw that article you wrote in the paper, sorry, you don't qualify for that procedure. Scary. FUCK!
Pabst Blue Ribbon - The beer that made Gerlach famous.
I don't want that eaither. But I don't want a company playing middle man with my health and driving for 20% profit deciding who lives or dies either. Unfortunately that's what we currently got here. What we are talking about is managed care pure and simple. We got it here, they got it elsewhere. All we are arguing about is how much it costs and who is playing gatekeeper. The LAST thing I want is the government deciding who lives and who dies
Sparkletarte, how do you feel about your healthcare? How would you describe your experience when you broke your leg? It would be interesting to compare my experience a year and a half ago when I needed shoulder surgery (well, at first the insurance folks didn't think I needed it cuz I was not a manual laborer or professional athlete so limited use of my shoulder was inconsequential).
We have the best healthcare in the world in the USA. But that's if and only if you can fucking affordt it.

I'm very happy with our health care system, although I hardly ever use it. In BC the government has been dismantling it piece by piece- I live in a city of 10,000 and lots of our services have been shifted to the next nearest city of 10,000 which is an hour away. This makes it 2 hours away for people who live out in the boonies, even more in the winter since some of the roads here get rather frightful sometimes. However, because of our small population base, if it was a private system, we might not have anything here either.
I was generally happy with my broken leg fiasco- I basically broke my knee by snowboarding into a tree at high speed, out of bounds, making it even more exciting. I made it to the hospital in my town around 6 pm. I was x-rayed here and referred to the another hospital, an hour away, where the orthopedic surgeons are. This was actually where I'd have requested to go anyways, because I know the ortho surgeons there are better than the ones we used to have here. I went home that night (preferred that to the hospital), then to the other the next day. Surgery was the following day. I didn't have to wait for anything. I had no problems with my return checkups with the specialist, nor with booking a second surgery a year later to get the hardware (screws) removed. My surgeon was amazing, as were all the nurses, everything but the food (!).
Fortunately I have extended health coverage so all of my physiotherapy visits were paid for by that. They, along with massage, naturapoathy, dental, and other complementary services, should be a part of our free medicare.
I hear of more problems in larger cities, with elective surgeries, and with things that aren't 'urgent'. I was urgent- I couldn't move without my surgery and was in excruciating pain. Unfortunately I've heard of waits for serious issues like removing tumours.
The problems with our system seem to lie a lot in the admin part of things, not enough new doctors and nurses coming our of schools, and the money not being distributed properly- you know, general beurocratic (sp) stuff. I think that in the US you tend to hear about the Canadian system in a rather one-sided manner.
In the big scheme of things, I'd rather have a good health care system available to everyone for free, than to have a great system available only to people with money. The fact that millions of people in the US can't afford to even visit a doctor to be appalling. It's not the best system if only people with money can use it, is it. I am so thankful I don't need to be afraid of hurting myself or getting sick. Fuck that.
Oh, actually, it's not even free anymore here- you get billed monthly based on your income. The most you'd pay is about $35 a month in BC- lots of people I know pay under $10 a month or so.
haha- The last thing I want is money deciding that. The LAST thing I want is the government deciding who lives and who dies

I have heard mixed reviews of the Canadian system and the people in the UK at this point seem to detest theirs. I think ours would be great if we could get rid of the excessive lawsuits. Doctors have to order procedures they know are not needed just to cover their ass and they have to charge more to cover inflated malpractice insurance. The goal should be to get bad doctors out of practice and into jail if needed, not to collect cash.

FUCK! Why are high-tech vendors so STUPID. In order to upgrade a model X layer 2/3 switch from switching mode to routing mode, one must TFTP boot the routing code because the switching code doesn't let you load and save the routing code ... fine. BUT ... the boot code doesn't initialize any interfaces so you CAN'T FUCKING TFTP BOOT ... ANYTHING. Two hours later and the support tech says "Well, maybe QA never actually TESTED that procedure before they released the code". NO FUCKING SHIT! If they had they would have properly noted that IT DOESN'T FUCKING WORK. Is your name SHERLOCK?
Thats what I was dealing with all day. FUCK!
I feel better now.
