Gov employees take a civil service test to qualify, why can't a vice presidential candidate answer a few simple questions as she's poised to be next in line to run the world's most powerful country? Throw the baby out with the bath water? I don't think so littleflower.....

oh no, Blamesimon.com would be overwhelmed, and the servers would fry.
and tell me, what is it about Abraham Lincoln's background and portfolio that makes you believe that he was "qualified" by some unknown, mysterious standards that shift like the wind depending on political bias?
please.
If Ronald Reagan was qualified, then just find any old washed up b-movie actor with alzheimers...
Val Kilmer comes to mind.

I will submit that there is always a demand for low-wage workers.
I'd say, a society usually, and, is, a reflection of nature, if left alone.........
bottom feeders and predators, mindless drones and dreamers........
We need 'em all......and, thank the Gods for them all........
without low pay jobs, where do people enter the job market? and learn, without breaking their employer.
without people who can't do much besides a low pay job, how do these things get done and what else can they do?
Obviously, everyone can't get rich.
I just like the idea, and freedom, that if I try hard, get lucky, or have skill, I might get there, or, at least, am not forbidden to try and succeed..........
Of course, I live by the motto: "It's better to be lucky than good".........

May be Lori Bush.. She has to have been druged out of her mind for the last 8 years.. First time she showed up on TV I said "There is a person on some heavy drugs".

I think it'd be damned refreshing to have someone run who has not been a high level politician, not rich, not in any pockets........maybe naive, but erudite.cowboyangel wrote:Gov employees take a civil service test to qualify, why can't a vice presidential candidate answer a few simple questions as she's poised to be next in line to run the world's most powerful country? Maybe scored really low on the SAT's but, can fix his car if it breaks........
Maybe more concerned with what goes on in their own country, and, help the others once our stuff is taken care of.........
maybe some blue collar worker, non-union, who just calls em as they see em...........
makes mistakes, and, learns, and doesn't lie about it.........
Just an " oops, that didn't work out, lets try something else".....statement would go a long way for me...........
or,
"yeah, I inhaled, so?"
Or, "yup, and a good BJ is was"......
or, "nope, I didn't show up for active service, so?".
Just examples of responses I'd have liked to hear.....

it seems to me that all candidates do is answer questions...? they may not be your questions, but i suspect you would hate her answers anyhow ... and other people have valid questions, different ones. i would vastly prefer a deeper sort of philosophical campaign instead of all this stupid gotcha stuff, but nobody asked me.cowboyangel wrote:Gov employees take a civil service test to qualify, why can't a vice presidential candidate answer a few simple questions as she's poised to be next in line to run the world's most powerful country? one of my friends, an older obama supporter, remembered the hope he had for jimmy carter, and the disaster he was as a president. he's feeling a bit of flashback right now, wondering how qualified obama really is. as for me, i tend to support whoever is in office, if only because the responsibility of running this country is so terrifying. no matter what, shit happens, and you are blamed. bad shit.
it would be nice if everyone could be happy ... but a lot less entertaining ...

Bullshit!
Carter inherited one of the worst economic disaster ever and Barrack will be doing the same. All caused by repeated Republican errors. Who did Carter succeed? Nixon and what was it that cause the economic problems?
Price Freezes!
Gold tied economy!
Oil Co. Manipulation of the economy!
A continuing war!
The fruits of the carter admin didn't take effect until after him. Like making changes in the Federal Reserve printing more bills to pay for congresses spending.
On Palin, the main issue of focus is her "Toopergate"!
She seems to be more of fascist Guliani then a nice Average American Woman!
On Tuesday, Five Republicans filed a Law Suite to end the BIPARTISAN investigation Sara's firing of the Public Safety Commissioner. None of the suitors are on the BIPARTISAN panel!
She is McCain's gift to Tokenism or she's literally the Republican's Stepford Wife!

Playawaste Raiders cordially invites you to suck it.
I find it humorous that most people base their opinions on sound bites.
For one: Palin didn't say the war in Iraq was 'God's' will. If you read her entire statement, she was praying that what we were doing WAS God's will. Meaning, she hoped we were doing the right thing.
Her faith and opinions on prayer in school and abortion, are just that. She believes it should be left up to individual States and local government. Meaning, the Federal government has no place in it. She also believes in contraception and that it should be taught in schools.
She believes that creationism and evolution should be taught side by side, but that parents should have a right to decide what schools their children attend.
"Troopergate" involved a police officer who tased his own kid.
And on and on and on. It's no different then the crap you've heard about Obama. However, we should remember that Palin is up for VP - not PRESIDENT.
BOTH Obama and Biden want to take away your guns, and Biden wants a NATIONAL ban on cigarettes. Banning those AK-47's will quash all those hopes of ever bringing back the "Good old" days of the Drive By Shooting Range.
Neither McCain or Obama are capable of running this country, but McCain is the best qualified. There are no other choices. However, it would be interesting if we could have Obama/Palin in power - just to see what would happen.
Oh, and for all you Palin haters - How many of YOU, would give birth to a baby that you KNEW was going to be mentally retarded? That woman has more balls than any of you - and I'm speaking from experience.

i submit the following tidbit from meet the press, 4/29/07:
***
MR. RUSSERT: I want to go back to 2002, because it’s important as to what people were saying then and what the American people were hearing. Here’s Joe Biden about Saddam Hussein:
“He’s a long term threat and a short term threat to our national security.â€

Das, you're totally naive if you think Palin wouldn't push for a total fundamentalist minded Supreme Court. Stevens will be replaced in the next administration. She couldn't answer "Charlie's" question as to what the fuck the Bush doctrine was. That you don't find that disturbing is itself disturbing.
The lady does aerial hunting of wolves which is cowardly and grossly inhumane, Do you really trust her to understand or have the ability to work with the financial crisis besetting the country? I don't. She would drill ANWAR and anybody who tries that is in for an environmental war. 3 months worth of oil ain't worth the cost. You belittle the impacts of her potential effect on the US in crisis without really understanding her gross lack of ability.
I'm pro gun and Obama ain't gonna take our guns away. That's pure bullshit. Shwarzenneger, a republican, is the only governor in the 50 states to ban .50 rifle ownership.
So who's taking away our guns?

i don't know how much longer ginsburg will serve, either. but don't forget the role of the senate ... the democrats are expected to win a healthy majority, and they would force mccain (he's the one running for president) to choose a moderate. but if obama wins, he will be able to choose a radical ... conservatives fear that he will pick someone like cornel west ... and there would be no way to stop it.cowboyangel wrote:Das, you're totally naive if you think Palin wouldn't push for a total fundamentalist minded Supreme Court. charlie gibson's bush doctrine question was screwed. he didn't even have a clear statement as to what the bush doctrine was. and the bush doctrine has evolved since 2003 ... i had read an essay the week before that went through various bush doctrines, so when i heard the question, and then the way gibson screwed it up ... well ...
and CA ...do you really think obama has the experience to deal with the economy?

I bet he would have done it himself.betrdanevr wrote:Nah. In '65, supposedly he'd just finished making his last movie, and in '66 he became governor of California.
I seriously doubt if he would have been on the grassy knoll. He would have had a "stand-in."
He was quite the stud in those days, IIRC, he did most of his own stunt work.......

Guess who was president? Eisenhower- and I don't think he was a Democrat.
The "insurgency" started pretty much right after that.
Yes, the war escalated under Kennedy & Johnson, but Nixon (oh, a Republican maybe?) is the one who spread it region wide (Laos, Cambodia) and undermined his own negotiators at the Paris conferences to increase his political power at home, extending the war for years beyond necessary, all because he wanted an unbeatable Republican majority to rule for as long as possible (many references on this, but Nixonland by Rick Perelstein is fantastic on the reasoning of this)
