In 2011, during my first Burn, I decided to burn the pallbearer gloves I had carried my grandfathers casket with. I didn't watch the temple burn, but it resonated with me nonetheless. I found it fitting that the biggest and grandest temple to date housed the gloves of the man I found the most grand in my life. Provided for four kids and owned two houses on a railroad worker's salary, feeding his kids with the free donuts that work would give him. Died of Cancer years prior to me going to Burning Man, but it gave me some closure to burn the gloves there. He was a Catholic deacon, so I imagine he wouldn't have found Burning Man to be anything but heathens-in-heat, but... hey. Life.

Now, for my fifth burn, and the first temple I've seen with a garden in it, I'll get to put the gloves I carried my grandmother in a few days ago. We found her last week in her garden, so at least we know it was instant and she was doing what she loved.

Funny how that works - she gets a garden to burn in.

Life.

I can't say I know how you feel but I know what you're going through.
Back on May 9th of this year we had to put our white cat Casper to sleep. I was cradleing him in my left arm and petting him with my right hand. Right before the vet stuck the needle
in his leg he picked his head up and gave me sugar on my right hand five times then slowly laid his head down into my left hand and died. He had cancer on his spine.
Here almost a year later it fuckin tears me up when I think of him.

My right thumb nail.
The Sunday before this past Christmas 2014, I slammed my thumb in the car door. Shortly after, it started turning a real neat turquoise color, then over time it turned dark purple.
It finally broke off today and is now kinda tender again.
RIP thumb nail

Here's a little something I did last time I lost a thumbnail... at work, we had a cyanoacrylic adhesive like crazy glue, but of a thicker consistency, called TakPak (spelling?) with a thin liquid accelerator applied by a little brush in the cap. Well, I thought, 'I'll just pile it on, accelerate the curing, file it nice and smooth, and have protection for the thumb'.

WRONG.

I found out quickly that the accelerator causes the glue to get VERY HOT.

So, from then on, I just applied thin layers of the stuff, cured each layer, filed the top and it was good. I ended up having to re-do it now and then as the nail grew back, but was impressed at how well it worked!

Thanks for the info Patsh. I've done the Neosporan (edit spelling) bit and it helped. The new nail is growing in pretty quick and it's not as tender

Yesterday, on a warm, sunny day, I lost my daddy. He went into the hospital after he received a cortisone shot in his shoulder. They said he died from sepsis. My dad and I had our ups and downs but I loved him so much. The last time I spoke with him was on his 87th birthday Feb. 2 and he sounded good. I have so many regrets that I didn't take care of. My heart hurts so much right now. I don't know what to do with myself.

I love you daddy. I'm happy you weren't in pain when you passed.I will miss you more than you know.

Rest in peace daddy. you'll always be a part of me.

Your loving daughter,
Mary Ann
