The German is "Frierabend."
May I suggest "playabend" as an appropriate idiom here?

what's she like?
well, my encounter with her was brief. It's odd you know. You swirl around someone in a fake space like this for a while and get an ephemeral sense of them. Then you meet them and it all snaps into place immediately. I don't mean this to say that the perceptions from the online experience translate or that they are even necessarily accurate but that someone connecting the two allows for you to feel at home with them quickly and at the same time to have this mental sigh of 'ahhh, I get it'.

So, she is very much like what you might imagine added with a smiley sweetness that some of us seem unable to get accross here (maybe it was the jack and coke). And tall.

Thanks for the Miller. I know, I have a thing lately about sucky beer.

*opens all six, nipples-style*

So you know what I was thinking about? You know how most everybody on the e-playa is fairly coy about what they do for a living--only getting around to writing about it after a few hundred posts or so. Well, not Kristy Kreme.

ahhh..... finally getting over my hangover!
went to a piano bar last night and was coerced into singing by the pianist, a 70+ year old singer named babs, and my sweetie.

i blame babs for the hangover... she ordered another round on her and bob, and we couldn't very well refuse.

babs and i are planning to take over the world.

Well, I have a job, not a vocation and certainly not an identity. I think it's a good job (in certain ways) and I try to do it well. I've been cagey about it in e-playa "public" for certain reasons, but there are people who have been told. In taking an 80% time job I've had to give up or adjust my identity as an artist, and bm is one of the places I can have some of it back. I refer you to Rob the Wop's posts in Kristy's thread to suggest that some of it may be an in-our-face claiming of a dispised identity (ala queer nation, although maybe not so intentionally political.)

What was the question again? And can I have another one of these? *gestures to empty on bar*

actually, lots of water last night plus a painkiller cocktail as a preventative measure lessened it.

what has kept it lingering this morning, i think, are two things:
1) i just can't drink much anymore. i'm little and apparently getting littler by the day. (eeeek. it's weird. i'm gonna be like my mom!)
2) it's Ramadan (somehow i'm managing to keep this thing up!!!) so aside from a quick coffee, water, and juice combo this morning, i couldn't do jack about it. mostly it's just been the stomach, which gets a little funky anyway while i'm fasting. so it's just exacerbated a bit....

BHA... I can't look at Krispy Kreme's name without thinking of the little kids I used to teach (I taught acting, dance, and theatre-in-general to 10-12 year olds for a coupla summers)... they used to raise their hands to get attention, but, without even waiting to see if they were going to be called on, they would start shouting "pay attention to me! Pay attention to me! Look at me! Look at ME!"

somehow, it just all floods back...

I used to never get hangovers. Then, as you get older, your body looses it's ability to metabolize a lot of things effectively. Then the hangovers come.

Now I take these pills. I am telling you, not one hangover in 3 years. In a way it's evil because now there is no nasty payback for getting canned. Beyond that though, it's just healthy. Lots of booze does damage. These help to prevent that damage.

Be well would ya!

Hi Sam!!!! HiHIHIHIHIHI!!! i splatter attention all over both of you!!

Tish: Sadly, no, although I wish I HAD!!! I feel like you and I would have gotten along SMASHINGLY out on the playa. Or elsewhere, for that matter...

Actually, Stuart, I was referring to her posts, as opposed to her name. (in all honesty, when I see her name, I think of some big furry sports-mascot-like animal... not sure why...)

Tish, can I have a hot tottie...?

Not to mention my statement that I'd trade logic and spirituality for a kiln. I thought that would get a rise from all sorts of people. I guess it just sealed my reputation as a lightweight and poser.

Fishy, I'll give you all the attention you want! I'll even polish your scales for you, if you like. I'll be very gentle....

I think everyone's mellow--perhaps the weather has something to do with it? I know it's got me down, for sure and for certain. Or maybe it's just a monday and noone's on their game yet. I've noticed a certain leniency today, though. I expected to get flamed for the krispy kreme comment, and, as of yet, no takers.
