universal primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document
released Tuesday that says Orthodox churches were defective and that
other Christian denominations were not true churches.

Roman Catholics believe he is the Successor of Saint Peter,
also making him the Vicar of Christ.
The synoptic gospels all recount how Peter's mother-in-law was healed by
Jesus at their home in Capernaum (Matthew 8:14–17); Mark 1:29–31;
Luke 4:38)—implying that Peter was married.
Simon and his brother Andrew were called by Jesus to be his followers,
with the words, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men"
does not translate into "the Vicar of Christ"

Vicars exercise authority as the agents of the bishop of the diocese.
performed, exercised, received, or suffered in place of another
he merely exercises sociological clout...

he works what wonders?

Automatic writing is the process, or product, of writing material that does
not come from the conscious thoughts of the writer. The writer's hand
forms the message, and the person is unaware of what will be written. It
is sometimes done in a trance state. Other times the writer is aware (not
in a trance) of their surroundings but not of the actions of their writing
hand.
Automatic writing is used as a tool in Freudian psychology and in
related "self-knowledge" studies, where it is seen as a means of gaining
insight into the mind of the automatic writer through their subconscious
word choices.
While unconscious ideas are expressed in automatic writing, skeptics
question the likelihood that they are any more profound than the writer's
conscious thoughts.

Du Fu was a Chinese poet during the Tang Dynasty. Along with Li Po, he
is frequently called the greatest of the Chinese poets. His own greatest
ambition was to help his country by becoming a successful civil servant,
but he proved unable to make the necessary accommodations. His life,
like the country, was devastated by the An Lushan Rebellion of 755, and
the last 15 years of his life were a time of almost constant unrest. Initially
unpopular, his works came to be hugely influential in both Chinese and
Japanese poetry. He has been called "poet historian" and "poet sage" by
Chinese critics
An Lushan was a general of non-Han Turkic-Sodgian ancestry. He was
appointed by the Xuanzong emperor (following the suggestion of Yang
Guifei and with the agreement of Li Linfu) to be commander of three
garrisons in the north—Pinglu, Fanyang and Hedong. In effect, An was
given control over the entire area north of the lower reaches of the Yellow
River. With such power and land in his control (including garrisons about
164,000 strong), An Lushan planned a revolt, taking advantage of the
absence of strong troops guarding the palace and of the popular
discontent with the extravagant Tang court caused by a string of natural
disasters. He avoided suspicion by pleasing the Emperor in as many ways
as possible, even calling himself the adopted son of Xuanzong's favorite
concubine, Yang Guifei. In this way, he was protected from criticism, even
when the Chief Minister, Yang Guozhong, demanded his dismissal.
Chinese poems are typically extremely concise, omitting circumstantial
factors which may be relevant, but which could be reconstructed by an
informed contemporary.

"The less accurately we know the time, the place and the circumstances in
the background, the more liable we are to imagine it incorrectly, and the
result will be that we either misunderstand the poem or fail to understand
it altogether".

A language is a system used to facilitate communication.

The Latin word "lingua" is equivalent to the English word "tongue".

The exact number of known living languages will vary from 5,000 to
10,000, depending on the precision of one's definition of "language", and
in particular according to how one treats dialects. There are also many
dead or extinct languages.

An icon (from Greek εἰκών, eikon, "image") is an image, picture, or
representation; it is a sign or likeness that stands for an object by
signifying or representing it, or by analogy, as in semiotics
Throughout history religious cults or religious cultures have been inspired
or supplemented by concrete images, whether in two dimensions or three.
The degree to which images are used or permitted, and their functions,
whether they are for instruction or inspiration, whether treated as sacred
objects of veneration or worship or simply applied as ornament, depends
upon the tenets in a given place and time.
