I just kinda like this. Last one out make sure the lanterns are cold and shut off the blowers... >grins< Somehow it just looks like the images of the bar...Mozy bonz wrote:Inflatable Pub
Wow. We just know we could put this thing to good use somewhere. The Inflatable Pub from Airquee has room for a bar and 30 customers, and can be be erected anywhere in just 10 minutes with 2 small blowers. It's even got a blow-up fireplace. And best of all, if you're not that popular, you can just order 30 blow-up dolls and have them be your crowd.

Now, about that inflatable underground bunker...

PS - Forgot this... Instead of keys, get those 4 digit Master Locks, the one with the little wheels on the bottom that you can reset the combo to. That way - no keys to lose, and if someone becomes an obnoxious sot that needs to be locked out (not like that'd happen, but you never know) or security gets compromised, you can change out the combos right there and keep it running.

Must be male buildings... >giggles<
You'd know if someone were there, and you'd also be able to keep the bar stuff from blowing away. Don't wanna make moop, after all...
Or get one of those whisper hondas just big enough to run the blowers with a big-assed back up fuel tank.
Hmmm... are we getting too complicated here???
BTW - looked on the airquee site, the inside of that pub is kinda cool!! Wonder how much it goes for?

I second the motion on combination locks, and they don't necessarily need to be the best on the market, just a deterent.
Do we know anyone who already owns a large tent or dome? I own a 10'x10' camo net, but no poles. Maybe that should be my summer project.
If we park this project next to a pottie bank, it will be guaranteed that I will stop in at least twice daily, and then park there at night.
There shouldn't be any problem with getting this registered as a theme camp. We do have a "presence" after all.

A little over £5500 for the next-to-smallest one plus shipping - it inflates in 5 minutes, and would be big enough for a small gathering. But... as Moz said, she's not cheap... then again, if I hit the lotto...
The weight is about 500 lbs. But it comes with the blower and all the stuff. All you need is a genny for the blower.
Then again - You can get an army tent a lot cheaper, but it looks like... well... an army tent.

6th (OK... 6:00) and F? Near center camp, damn near central to everywhere... and not too close to one of the huge villages. Right down the street from DMV... even (if I remember) has handicapped ones, too... (Would that make us ADA compliant? >giggles<)
Too bad we can't get near the 12:00 promenade portapotty banks... >giggles< the rest stop halfway to the temple... too bad it wouldn't fly... or would it? >grins<

How about a double decker bus for a bar????

"barring" that, I really, really, really like EspressoDude's idea of the empty spool bar, very cool!

IF we had the finances, I'd really like to go that route. Not only a theme camp, but an art car all in one. Fireplace in back, cushions, seats, mobility or not, even an above ground underground bunker... absolutely fabulous!Chai Guy wrote:How about a double decker bus for a bar????

Clark - thanks for the tap as far as 'the honor' of co-ordinating all this this year, but i cannot. i have enough official duties on the playa. and while i appreciate the nod for starting this place, it really belongs to all y'all who keep it alive, and whatever y'all do in the desert is YOURS.
that said - i think the theme camp idea, and central placement (6 o'clock) are not the way to go...far too complicated, asking for random yahoo takeovers, and 6 o'clock real estate is hard to get, and high maintenance once you get it. stick with the little/mobile idea.
one-night only (at the M&G!) is a durn good way to go, too. kinda what i intended last year, although technical difficulites with the bike got me there really late.
if it is somewhat permanent/moveable:
a place for messages is briliant. but if the stash is left untended, it WILL disappear. how about a bar-sitter camp every night? like when teacher sends the gerbil home with a different kid every weekend...? if we can get 7 people to offer to 'house' the bar (thinking of the barrel idea, or a small, mobile bike/atv thing) each night, then it would be safe, and somewhat locatable. is that a word?
all i can offer, due to my job at the event, is to pop in a couple o' times, and be at the M&G. i can't even offer to bar-sit a night. : (

Bar theme camp
If this is really going to come off as a theme camp I am willing to pull up stakes in AEZ and park myself at the Bar theme camp, also willing to help construct bar since I always bring a lot of tools and such. Also will be able to transport some building materials on truck rack.robbidobbs wrote:There shouldn't be any problem with getting this registered as a theme camp. We do have a "presence" after all.
I have commitments for shifts around the Playa but I tend to come home early at night and get up early so there would be some presence..
My Irish heritage has a love for Bar's and back when I had some real money for awhile almost bought one. So it would be like a dream for me to have a stake in a bar even if it is for a week and it has a negative profit margin...

Right on TITWI Now we are starting to rock and roll lets get this on full auto...."The Bar Theme Camp"thisisthatwhichis wrote:Yep, Rock, I am in too. i can take some shifts. Ever since my first year, the bar theme sounded cool. This takes it to the next level.
Another idea would be I ask AEZ for a street facing spot they get a decent amount of good acreage close to CC every year and I was just close enough but far enough away from JOTS last year. One drawback is no gennie's but we could do solar lights, music and dry ice in ice chests?
They are getting the map together and getting signups now so I would need to ask for a bigger street side location soon.
And as a bonus my AEZ buddies/neigbors work in camp Artica every year
Sue, Robbi, Tisha, Fish, Mozy, Sput, Chai... etc what about it?

Cool. look what robotland has...
Okay...The screenprinting place that I work for is producing WAY too much scrap fabric....Kickass marine-grade acrylic, tightly woven and tough as hell. Awesome stuff. I plan to bring as much of it as I have room for to the burn to distribute to any and all comers, but might entertain "specialty requests" beforehand....It's in long, thin strips (like a foot or so wide and ten feet long, in "Concord") or rectangular irregulars...(30" or so by 3-6 feet, in "Pac Blue", "Captain Navy", "Kelly" and others.) Look forward to "Burning Man 2006" pennants, fellow participants....

possible tent idea,
http://www.canopymasters.com/
http://www.creativeshelters.com/
http://www.gothicarchgreenhouses.com/shade_aluminet.htm
first 2 links are for connectors for thin wall conduit and fence tubing
3rd link is greenhouse shade cloth
look at EspressoCamp structure on page 2 of the themecamp/coffee camp thread and see how it works
the tent in the pic is custom espressodude fabricated fittings and cloth
a bundle about 1 x 2ft of 8 ft poles, 3 duffel bags of fabric and webbing, about 2 cu ft of fittings.
lots of hours to build, but with standard tent shape, easier
(not volenteering(sp), btw)

ED, that fabric striping in the 3rd link is awsome (reflective/clear)! So, I'm goint to pop a main queston so we may hopefully start sifting through our thoughts, and to also give all persons wanting to work on the structure their 2 cents:
1. Should we build it from scratch (Bring our own boards, poles, fabrics, etc.)? Or should we get a Pre-made one (Insta-tent, car port, shade structure, etc.)?
(There is only like a hundred other questions: Mobile/Fixed?, Registered/Private? Object delegation, etc, but I think we should hit the main foundation Q's first, and then work up to the finesse stage (crazy fun decorations

A dose of sensibility please (WHAT!!! at burningman??surely u jest, ED)
Any of the above suggestions gonna cost $$$ probably $500 - $1000
Some of us are trying to get other camps organized: EspressoCamp for me, CoffeeCamp for CC.....etc. consuming a lot of our energy, cash, hauling space, etc.
Based on that "THE BAR" ought to be:
(1) really minimalist,
(2) possibly part of another camp,
(3) be only a flag to be flown at a different one of our camps each night,
(4) All camp together as a minivillage: "THE BAR", "COFFEECAMP", "ESPRESSOCAMP", "ETC." , "ET AL"......4 or 5 bars serving one central round table. espresso in the morning, Baileys, or Jameson for lunch, Coffee in the afternoon, then beer. Amaretto for dinner, Espresso after dinner, Tequila next, then.......

Damn ED, sputnik. Your right. I stumbled over one of my own rules: simplicity. I would shoot for (1) or (3) on the "ought to be". Maybe should hang tight on the structure and focus on a one night "Meet & Greet" instead, especially seeing still how far out from the event we are.

I'm in Hushville, so like rockdad over in AEZ, no gennies (and no amplified music, guitars anyone?). However, if we get street placement in Hush and have the big shade canopy set-up like last year, I certainly could host the bar on say, Friday afternoon. Then if anyone wanted to host it for Friday night, we could have a grand little procession from one camp to another.
A thought on combo locks, they make them that use letters instead of numbers, so you can have passwords. Easier to remember than numbers for some folks, uh, like me.
It would be simple to mount a lockable ice chest onto a wagon frame, that way it could be pulled by bike or on foot from locale to locale.
Hmmm, we have a wooden box with lid and latch on wagon wheels ...
