THEN: Black and white TVs only. And after the 11:00pm news, the last thing you saw was the American Flag waving in the air with the Star Spangled Banner song playing. Then the boob tube went beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!!!!!!
NOW: Cable. Endless hours of 847 channels, endless episodes of Andy Griffith, the Brady Bunch, Beverly Hillbillies, Melrose Place, Family Guy, all the Soap Operas you can catch up on that you missed during the week, cooking shows galore (MY FAVE) and stupid paid programming advertisements of how SHAMWOW will change your life.
I miss the Star Spangled Banner at the end of the night.

Here's a link to Beloit College's annual list of things that make up the world of today's new freshpersons (2008)

They don't specifically include:
Beloit college has been posting annual versions of this to the web since this year's entering class was 7. And the first one made me feel really old.

I loved magazines.
TigerBeat: David Cassidy, Shawn Cassidy, Jack Wild (Jimmy from HR PuffNStuff), Leif Garret, Donny Osmond, Scott Baio, Bay City Rollers, Abba, Kiss
Dynamite (Magazine) : The Fonz, Mork and Mindy, Welcome Back Kotter
I also loved Fangoria Magazine: Still around. However, they don't make horror movies like they use to. Back then you really had to use your imagination. No computers for us. Oh Yeah, The Radio Shack TRS 80
Tom Savini: The best make up artist ever!
I also had tin lunch boxes: Lidsville. I know I had others but that one was my favorite and it sticks out in memory.
Jaws was and still is my favorite movie ever ever ever ever!!!!
I didn't smoke when I was a kid but I remember others did ON THE AIRPLANE!!!!Yep, they had ashtrays and everything. Gosh.

I remember computers without mice.
http://www2.b3ta.com/heyhey16k/
Now I'm typing in the truck to pick up a wild net feed on a laptop that weighs less than the first keyboard I used.
The first computers I remember didn't have keyboards.
All digital.
