I'm in total agreement with this statement. I remember the "bad old days" before moderators & the edit time-limit, and it got ugly. I would rather keep the 1 hour limit.

Me too, but I thought it was more like fifteen minutes.

I'd prefer not having to go to a new page to sign in...

If you have cookies enabled you shouldn't have to login every time. Assuming you are using your personal computer. Probably not such a good idea from the office.

I don't want to be signed in all the time. How would I manage Simon and the sub-Simons if I were signed in as Fishy all the time?

Even though you have the cookie on your computer, I don't think that it shows on the site that you are logged on once you close the browser and are no longer actually on the site.

Whoa!! You guys are gonna love this...

Unless I'm mistaken, I just edited a post of mine that I had made BEFORE the upgrade!

I think this is one of the signs of the Apocalypse!

Yup, I just went back and edited a post from February 2010.

Unlimited time to edit messages, the horrible and unreadable contrast settings, only showing the author of the last post and not the link (which is absolutely worthless)... these are not problems inherent in phpBB. Rather it's a function of a board administrator who is not spending any time to fix these faults. This board software is decent for something free (I prefer vBulletin personally), and the software itself is definitely an improvement, but like all things, you have to spend some time to tweak it into something usable.

If the Admin ever deigns to read this thread here are some nice fixes:

- Edit message time (Admin Control Panel -> Post Settings -> Limit Editing / Deleting time)

- Last post link (phpBB mod)

- Theme settings (ACP -> Styles (tab) -> Themes -> Edit)

Seems to me that contrast is a big thing for many. I know that the first 3 days or so I thought I'd probably not be coming in very often anymore because I found it very irritating.

-had to really pay attention to where one post started and ended (really hard for me to see) and
-not enough contrast between type and background.

If you want the code monkeys to read this post, re-post it in the thread in the "bugs" sub-forum, because that's the only one they actually said they are monitoring. BBSue, AntiM and 007 may bring it to their attention, but better to do it yourself. You can always post a link to it.
